How do you pass the time when you're bored at work?

Some of us have day jobs, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has occasional lulls in the amount of activity at my job. Some days, I'm rushing around busy, but other days, particularly when many of my co-workers are out, it's a lot slower. I try to keep myself busy with reading up on work-related subjects, or making myself useful to those who are in the office.
So when you're bored at work, what do you do? And I am hereby saying that "get on myLot" is an invalid response, because I'm already here. :) (And still bored.)

What i'd do is ask my boss for extra work that isn't a high priority and that can be done over the course of the month. I myself don't work but that would be what I'd do. As well listen to some music at work, that would always cheer me up.

Unfortunately, there's still enough at this job that I don't know that there isn't a lot of spare work for me to do. It doesn't help any that most of the people I work with are archaeologists, and I know very little about that subject. I'm trying to read up on it, but it seems like a lot of what they do I would have to see to understand properly.

Yahoo Mesengr and MySpace are my hobbies at work when nothing much is goinmg on.I just lov chatting and socializing with friends online:)

im still a student so may i change the word "work" to "class"?
i mean, its pretty much the same situation.
we all get bored sometimes. lolz.
well, when im bored in class,
i usually daydream. lolz! :)
that gets me through the boring class.
