The USA is a target of many terrorist groups. Of course there is a reason for this.
In my opinion, the USA is supporting often countries, dictators because of their own intrests. For example: Israel is being supported although they often act with extreme violence. Iraq was being supported by the USA although many people were killed by Iraq, using chemical weapons.
I think the USA are using two standards:
when a muslim country does something wrong, the USA will show force. If Israel does something wrong, they will protect them by using their veto in the UN.
As muslims feel very much connected to other muslims all over the world, they feel ill treated by the USA. As the USA is also doing not so much on developing poor countries, the bases for terrorism is created....
Can a change in US politics reduce terrorism? Or even prevent terrorism?

sariayu, I have to correct you on something.
"We all know that Iraq has been devastated by U.S.A and Saddam has been hanged by bush"
Saddam was tried and hung by an IRAQI court, established by the IRAQI government elected by the IRAQI people. We had absolutely no control over his trial. They could have set him free and we would have had no say in it.
For the rest of the thread. We are a terrorist target for the same reason other nations are, we do not subscribe to their extreme radical view of islam. It is absolutely naive to believe that we can stop terrorism by simply butting out of the worlds business as I've heard it put. Al Quieda sent a messege to the u.s. through it's number 2 man in charge. The messege said simply this. "the only way to save yourselves is to convert to islam. Convert to islam or die"
Doesn't get much plainer than that folks. he did't say "stop supporting isreal or die" or "get out of iraq or die"....."CONVERT TO ISLAM OR DIE" perdiod. Argue THAT one.

I completely disagree with how you feel about Israel. The Jews were persecuted so many times in the past by the likes of the Nazis, Romans, Persians, and other empires before the Persians. These people have always had a pretty hard time because everyone blames them and takes out their anger on them. In the 1940's Israel is formed and before the nation is formed in the first weeks the Islamic nations consisting of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq all attacked Israel. The Jews had to do what they had to do to survive and they beat back the 3 main powers in the middle-east, and not only once but three times the last war lasting only a week I believe they crushed these armies. So Israel today realizes if it wants to survive and stop being bullied they have to defend themselves and act against violence because they are surrounded by enemies. This is why we are allies with them because we don't have very good relations with any other nations and we no they will help us out in trade, and military wise if necessary.

I think part of your discussion here is true. Back in the 1980s, the United States did support the Iraqi's in the Iran-Iraq War. I do find it interesting that we are in Iraq now after toppling the Hussein Government. Part of this was due to his threatening of getting WMDs including nuclear weapons within 5 years which could be devastating to not only Israel but the world over.
The United States and its politics is not causing terrorism. The United States is the "policeman of the world." When a country talks down about the United States and then finds itself in need, the United States finds a way to assist that country to gain its respect. With respect to Israel, where I had the opportunity to live for nearly 3 years, the United States has a great relationship with it because it has more of a democratic government than any other country in the Middle East. I also think that the United States has to help protect Israel not only for political and military means but because there is a religious factor there as well.
It is true that Israel acts with undue violence against its enemies. But if you recall, Israeli civilians of all ages are threatened by acts of terrorism day in and day out. They do not bring this on themselves. They have given so much and received little to nothing in return.
The political scene in the United States today is in dire need of change. I am definitely not saying that the Democrats deserve the White House or Congress. What is needed truly, is a strong third party, say the Independent or the Libertarian Party. Presently, I do not believe there is any way that the Republicans or the Democrats can work together with the world the way it is. It should not be up to the United States to determine what is going to happen here or there or everywhere. The United Nations should be responsible for this and that world governing body has shown how weak it is in keeping the peace.
All-in-all, the United States as well as Great Britain is going to have to look at other options when it comes to handling the world as a whole. Hopefully, and eventually, the United Nations will step forward as a strong entity to bring peace to the world. My take on this is: NOT!

I do think that the United States do "help" many emerging nations to keep them low, under the US feet. And sometimes those rich/poor (countries with petroleum, diamonds, gold, etc) are helped with dams, bridges, airports, etc they don't need so that they won't have any opinion in the United Nations assemblies and before the World Bank.
The people of those countries at some time get hungry and rebel themselves - they are named terrorists after those rebellions.
Just my 2 cents...
