Plus Size Clothing For Women

I managed to tear up two zippers within the last two months. They were on my two favorite jackets from Dickies.com. Now, I have no jacket with a working zipper and I am not willing to purchase another one from this company as I have had many problems with the jackets in the past. It is hard for me to find quality clothes in my size at a reasonable price. I am on a fixed income and most of my money goes toward rent. I was wondering if anyone knew of a store/store front online where they have quality plus size(5x) clothing and a reasonable price. Thank you for all of your help, it is very appreciated.

I don't know of any stores but I do have a question. Have you tried fixing the zippers? I did learn that when cleaning the garment you should always zip it up first because the washer and dryer can damage the teeth on them. I fix zippers constantly because of the kids being rough on their clothes, backpacks, ect.

I wish that I knew how to fix the zippers. The first one the broke, the part that zips up just fell off. The second got stuck in the cloth and I must have messed something up because when I try to zip it up now, the zipper just opens up again.

I can try to tell you on here how. For the one that won't stay closed anymore. All you need to do is get a pair of pliers and make the holes that the zipper go through tighter. Now for the other one you can take a flat screwdriver and pry open the part that the zipper goes in then put it on the zipper and do the same with the pliers to close it up. Be careful not to be too tight with it because bending and tightening will eventually break it. It may take a few minutes of playing around with it to get it right but I rather do that than have to go out and buy a brand new garment. If you lose the pully thing on them you can always use and extra keyring or anything decorative that will fit thru the hole.

Thank you so much for all your advice and I will try both suggestions. I wish that I had the repair sense that you do when it comes to clothes. I will get it though. I get tired of spending money on clothes and the searching isn't so great either. I had not had new jacket on my budget this month at all.

I'm not really sure about any clothing stores to help you out, but that makes me mad when you pay for quality clothing from a reputible place, and it messes up on you. I like Dickies clothing and I've had problems with zippers on pants before. There was one clothing company that I used to love and it had awesome clothes, but it never failed that something was damaged when I got it from them. It was all from a catalog and it sucks having to guess with that kind of stuff anyway. It was always a special treat to get to order from them because they were kinda pricey, but I was always let down when it finally came! I know what you mean about not having extra money to put towards clothes either. You expect good quality when you are in that situation.

Yeah. I had not planned on this. But thank God, I did find something. The store was Lane Bryant Catalog. They have nothing to do with the store and the quality of the merchandise is not good. But I was able to find a jacket on clearence in the one brand that I trust. Then I had a 25% off promotion with them. So, I ended up paying $15.70 for everything, including shipping. The only problem now, is waiting for them to deliver it. They expect it to be here by the 14th, Ups style. But, I am grateful to God for making a way out of no way, literally. I looked in so many places before finding that. But, I was expecting a miracle and I got one.

I'm glad you at least found something.:) I don't know how much this will help you, but Old Navy offers a flat $5 shipping fee when you order online. You might find something you like.:)

I only know one but I am not sure if they are reasonably priced, Avenue.com. They do plus sizes but I am not sure how big they go Rozie. I get their emails and they often have specials. Hope this helps.

Now, I love the Avenue, but I have to visit their stores, because they do not offer much online. I love their cloudwalker shoes. To bad, I live out in no man's land. They don't have one of those around here anywhere. They use to have them in the malls, but for some reason, they took them all out and put them on the street. They are not cheap priced, but their quality is excellent. Actually, I was able to find what I needed last night. I just needed something light for this summer breeze we are having out here. Thanks for your good suggestion.

Size 24? Ha, those were the good old days. Try adding ten to that and get back to me. I would say,LOL, but the last time I looked in the mirror, it wasn't funny. Thanks for your help and the link. I will go and check it out anyway.

Well I know a few places, I'm not sure how affordable they will be to you but I like them. First place is Lane Bryant, you can also try CJ Banks. If you want to go on-line you can try www.sizeappeal.com Those are a few places that might work for you.

I want to check out CJ Banks and the new Size Appeal. I did not know that size appeal had relocated. They use to be just a block from where I live in Santa Monica. Before they moved, they gave away a whole lot of stuff. My friend got some of it. I never care much for their dark look. But I will check them out anew. I like Lane Bryant, but I do not have Lane Bryant cash right now.
