i am starting this discussion because i am wondering how many people's mood change depending on what song they hear.
in my case, i my mood depends on what song or music i hear on air. for instance, when i hear a love song, my mood kind of turn sour because i start to miss someone so badly (sometimes i even cry - eeww!); when i hear a rock song, i sort of become reckless and carefree; when i hear rap music, i kind of feel cool and collected; when there's no music, i feel all neutral. i don't know why music affects me so much. there has to be an explanation, right?
how about in your case? does you mood change because of music? or this case is just for those who are music-minded?
please let me know. i'm interested. thanks.

Well, I am not depending on music to change my mood. But I like listening to the local FM radio to reduce the stress. I like listening to the D.J. talking. There are many of my favorite segments in the radio program. But until now I don't think I depend on a song to change my mood. However I agree that a fun song can change my mood into good mood and cheerful, but if I hear sad songs I won't be influenced into being sad or missing someone. Well, that's me. Have a nice day!

I AM AFFECTED BY THE TYPE OF MUSIC I HEAR TOO!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh, we r alike!! *Laughs*
When I listen to those sad songs like Howie day's "collide", I would feel so moody and melancholic, it seems that there is this sad note attached permanently to them. When I listen to dance music, gosh, I feel so energetic and carefree! Bossa and relaxing instrumentals help me to relax. Uh, I hate rap cos it makes me very vexed. That's all. ^^

Hello diannebcrs, certain songs do influence my mood to some extent especially those emotional and sentimental songs. During certain old days when I was not so healthy whenever the popular chinese song “Sad Departure” was on air every now and then I would feel rather impressed by it. It was quite natural for a sick person like me at that time to be susceptible to sadness and depression imparted by the song.
Though this was happened quite a long time ago whenever I come upon this song I still will have the depressed feeling.
I like happy and lively songs as they could impart me pleasure and make me energetic all the time.
When children songs are playing on air I feel as if I am still in those sweet old days together with my kids.
Songs or music could really create an atmosphere of great feelings.

Yes, I know what you mean. Every time I hear sentimental songs, I get all emotional and all. It's not that I don't like sentimental songs; I actually prefer listening to them during nights especially when it's raining. It makes me want to reminisce about past love and present love. May bring sadness - sometimes, I feel like being sad.
During the day, though, I prefer listening to happy songs because I get energy from them for my day to day activities. I don't like listening to sentimental songs whenever I'm busy because I kind of stop and become emotional and all. Hahaha...
Rap music and rock music is cool though.
Thanks for sharing!
Take care!
