7-8 hours of sleep is enough right?? So why is it when a person sleeps longer than 7 hours they are still tired like say 10-12 hours? I sleep 6-8 hours a night I wake up tired and the same with 10-12 why? I don't understand this.. I was just talking to a friend and he said he's the same way.. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have been sleeping like 12 hours lately and I feel fine when I wake up..I don't take a nap. Now if I have a restless night, then I am tired the next day..If I go to bed and it takes me 2 to 3 hours to go to sleep then I will be tired too! I think it has to do with the quality of sleep you get..If you wake up to roll over and have to get back to sleep then your sleep cycle has been interrupted, so it is like your body is starting over..Is this making any sense? Sometimes I have a couple hours of very hard sleep then I wake up..then I go back to sleep only to wake up again a little later...So if my sleep isn't continuous for the 8 or 12 hours then I will be tired.

Same thing happens to me.. Yes that does make alot of sense.. I know I used to get 12 hours of sleep months ago, that was when school was in progress but now that their isn't any school I have to be up with my son to take care of him and such.. I am thinking that once he goes back to school I will be able to rest more and not feel so tired as much.. Cause waking up every so often and falling back to sleep does make me extreamly tired. Thanks for your reply!

I usually went to bed at about midnight and slept until 8. Lately I have been going to bed at 4 or 5am and not getting up until 3pm..so I am all screwed up..my sleep isn't that great...I need to turn my self around again and hopefully I will be okay..I did notice that when the dog sleeps with us, we don't get much sleep, but a couple days ago she was staying at my daughters house and that night both my hubby and I slept wonderful...

Your dog was disturbing your sleep, We don't have any pets that sleep with us.. My son does have his dog that sleeps with him though but he has so much energy it's not even funny actually.. I always ask him to share it with me but he's busy running around...lol

No it's normal. I think we each have a perfect of amount of hours needed to feel refreshed. However when we lay in bed longer, our brain wants us to wake up, so we are not in a deep rejuvenating sleep anymore, we are in the half way point and we are really using our brain’s energy to dream the whole time. Then when we do get up, that is why we feel tired because we really wasn’t resting, but working our brains.

That can be also, only some days though do i feel rested enough to go threw a long day and others I need a nap or something.. Because I know I am not able to get threw the rest of the day with out it... Dreaming for sure takes a long of brain energy at least I think so, So I do agree with you.. Thanks for your reply!

I think it varies from person to person also I think it takes awhile for your body wakes up, once you have had a shower and breakfast and even maybe a little exercise sometimes your body is more refreshed then I guess the body can still feel tired if you are mentally exhausted which again I think is different...

I agree everyone is different that's for sure.. Even after all that shower and breakfast stuff though I just can't get myself motivated enough to want to do anything.. I think another is being under some stress it can make your body tired as well, I know I heard this before as well.. So that can be another problem of mine with all this tiredness stuff.. Thanks for your reply!

I agree but others need more to feel rested.. Some don't.. It's just the way their bodies are... Thanks for your reply!

I sleep for 5 to 6 hours only and feel that it is enough for a normal adult to lead a healthy life. sleeping too much in the night makes you sluggish and lethargic.

5 or 6 hours of sleep for some people really isn't enough.. I know for me it isn't I'm more of a 8-10 hour person that needs that much sleep.. Sometimes though I am awaken from things and I think that can be a problem.. I am just not to sure though... Thanks for your reply!

you could have something wrong with you. Like your thyroid for instance. If the levels are low that can make you tired or it could be something else. I would say go to the doctor and he will run some tests. I know not matter how much sleep I get I am still so tired. I don't have a thyroid so I have hypothyroidism and that's a side effect.

yeah!.7 Hours of sleep is more than sufficient. If you think same is the case even u sleep for more time, then you neeed to blame your body!.
True. You need to give your body fine level of exercise to stay fresh and know the difference!.It's not the matter of tireness but that of laziness!.Once you start exercizing and sleep for 6-8 hours you feel great and refreshing.SAme is the feeling when you go for a jog after waking up!.

One third of a day i.e 8 hours is recommended by doctors is normal and prooves healthy for all human beings. If you sleep for less one night, the other night you"ll want to sleep more which may have caused you to sleep for 10-12 hours as it is over sleeping. Over sleeping causes laziness and in the end you have lost almost have of your day. Famous saying "Early to bedm early to rise, makes the man healthy wealthy and wise.

you are right. this happens to me too. i can sleep for 16 hours and still feel lazy and when i go to do something i fel tired. i will tell you what. this is not about sleep or tiredness, i think you are a creative person, so am i, and over creative people ned to things to go their way to bind them to everyday frolic, we either need to get somethings that we really really like or be deeply in love. then all our tiredness will vanish. all the bestest, ever and ever.
