I had to have a C-section. I had been having problems the entire pregnancy, and had a seizure while I was in labor. I was in labor for hours, and they had me pushing for a long time, and I wasn't making any progress. Considering all that and the problems I had during pregnancy my doctor thought a C-section was necessary, and afterwards he said the way the baby was wedged, there was no way he would have come out normally.
It did take me a long time to recover, though. I was having pain long after the doctors said I shouldn't be, and it was kind of frustrating for me. I even went to another doctor for my six-week postpartum check, and she said it was a beautiful incision and I shouldn't have any problems, but it hurt for a long while after that, especially getting up and down from chairs or the bed. I
t all turned out okay, because I had my healthy baby boy.

I stopped having seizures after having my son, and finally the C-section scar did stop hurting. =)
I always seem to have health problems though, right now it's vertigo, which is very annoying.
I don't plan on having any more children, because of my health, since they don't know exactly why my pregnancy caused seizures. But like you said, when you see that beautiful little baby it all just goes away. He's one year old now, and I still feel that way when I look at him, he's just so awesome and learning so many new things everyday.

My God! You had suffered a lot. Are you ok now? As you said, after all such suffering, when we see our baby, we forget those struggling hours. That is the miracle of the child and our own blood.

With one year old baby, much is expected from you. We must constantly give attention for the baby. He will be running around, keep insects like ants, stones, into his mouth. Must watch him carefully. At his time our sickness will be very costly for us. I can understand. I hope you have help at home and I pray God to give good health to you and blessings to your wonderful prince.

Now this is something i can discuss !!!
Last October i had my first baby, a wonderful little girl, but she was very happy in mummys tummy and obviously didnt want to come out !!!
10 days overdue i went into hospital to be induced, 3 days later it was finally necessary for me to have a c-section.
My little girl arrived safely and to me it doesnt matter how she arrived, the important thing is that she arrived happy & healthy.
I do wonder that when i have my next child that it would be so much easier to elect to have a c-section. No waiting around !!!

You are correct friend. First time our pelvic bones, uterus all will be tight as it did not go through any processes. But for second, they are all loosened and delivery will be easy. Even I suffered almost 12 hours for the first one but for the second, only 6 hours. Moreover normal delivery will heal fast but c.sec will take long. Why to take trouble? Even if we have to suffer at the time of delivery, better to have normal.

Both my children were natural births with no epidural. My son was a 13.5 hour labour and he was 6.6 lbs and my daughter was 5.5 hours and was 7 lbs. They were painful of course and my son was alot harder on me then my daughter but it was totally worth every minute of pain. My son had to be induced and my daughter was supposed to be but she came 2 days before the induction LOL thank goodness cause when your induced it brings the labour pains on a whole lot worse. With my son I couldn't even get outta bed and with my daughter I was able to walk around the whole time.
No matter how our children get here its always worth it and I would never change it for the world.

My second daughter was scheduled to be induced as well. The doctor said I looked too uncomfortable to let me go more than a couple of days past my due date. (I think I was already in the early stages of developing fibromyalgia at this point). As it turned out, I too, went into labour a couple of days before the induction. But then, my husband and I used our own methods to induce labour. ;-)

Both my girls had big heads. The first one, after 36+ hours of labour, they tried everything to get her out. I don't think they used forceps but a plunger type thing to stick to the top of her head and pull her out, except she had a lot of hair so it slipped off. Man, did I scream!
My second daughter I was only in labour for about 3 hours. Still, big head. I had to beg the doctor to cut me.
So, I had episiotomies for both my children. That was the extreme. No caesarian, no epidural.

For my first daughter I had several shots of demerol throughout the night, and a couple of hot baths. They tried to give me gas but it made me dizzy.
With my second one, nope. They wanted to give me gas but I refused because I knew it would make me dizzy. But I finally gave in and took the gas. My husband was in charge of giving it to me. When the nurse's back was turned he took some himself. Yeah, he had a blast during that delivery!

Nice to know your husband was with you during the delivery. Even my husband was with me but they never allowed him inside the labour room.

Hi. Our two children births; one was born in the hospital, 2 weeks over due, epidural and was induced, the other born in our home by water birth, you couldnt get any natural then that lol, their dad born in the back of his parents Land Rover on the way to the hospital lol... I was born natural and normal birth in hospital, none of us had major complications and are healthy as we speak lol...

Hai Nardz13 it is so interesting to know about this water birth. I never heard before. Thanks a ton. But one doubt. How will the child know to swim? Will it not drink water in this process?

Hi. I will try to explain the water birth... Ok during my pregnancy term I could decide to have our baby in hospital or at home, we opted for the home birth... In doing this our midwife gave us some options and all the information we needed, and one of them were, water birth... Which I liked alot, with this option, she bought in a mobile birthing pool 2 weeks before, sat down with us and familiarised us with what to do, incase she was a little late getting here... My husband and I set up the pool in our lounge a week later, quiet a big lounge... We had a pot belly stove in there as well, which was to come in handy... The day b4 I was due, my husband half filled the pool with cold water, then on the day, he had filled the rest with hot water, we had pots of hot water on our potbelly stove on standby for the pool, as well as a hose coming straight from our hotwater tap in the laundry... When I was ready to have our daughter, I climbed in, got comfortable and out she swam it was amazing and I think the best way to give birth... The warm water in the pool, eased alot of my back pain and around, also our daughter came out sparkling clean lol, there was no after gunk on her etc... Why I say swam out, because thats exactly how it looked... It was a awsome birth, I climbed out with her and we both lay on a bed in our lounge, in the warm sun, while our midwife checked us over, I had no problems whatsoever, I was just sooo hungry, I could smell my grandmas cooking coming from our kitchen, she cooked alot of food and I couldnt wait to eat it lol... Another hose was then connected to the pool for draining later on, which ran straight into the drain pipes outside... Thats my best explaination... I wouldnt hesitate to have a water birth again, if I was to become pregnant, which is far from it lol... Have a great day...

When I was still pregnant, my plan was just to have a painless normal delivery. I had my first labor around 11pm and I was rushed to the hospital right away. I was at 5cm then. By 6:30 am, they already gave me the injection so I will no longer feel the pain and said that I will give birth around 10 am. I was sleeping most of the time during that time. I was still 5cm by 11 am and they said that my navel had already formed a glass-hour which means I have a pending uterus rupture. So they made an emergency CS. Looking back, had I known that I will go through CS, I would have not gone into labor for 7 hours. I mean, how convneient it would be just to present yourself to the hospital and say I am due for a CS operation. That's how it works if you really plan for CS, right? The recovery was quite fast. I was not just allowed to carry objects heavier than my baby. The good part was that my 60 days maternity leave was extended to 78 days. It was fun. LOL.

Good you have recovered fast. Even though your leave was extended, you spent 18 solid days with new born and the child got mother's nearness at that time when it was very precious.

That is really good. Our own people as doctors and in your case hospital itself is your father-in-law's, this will give us confidence that they will take very good care of us.

my first was a normal very easy delivery. Second was an emergency C-section. The C-section was bad. At first I thought if I had a C-section for my first..I would never have gone for a second child! But I soon got through that (and pretty quickly I must add). I was up and about in 2 weeks.

my first ever delivery is a normal one.. I am glad to have a very short labor and the delivery of my baby is super quick.. ( I remember that from the time I lay down in the delivery table, after 35 minutes my baby is out..) It was a great experience for me..it's so nice to push if the staff who are attending you is very supportive.. :)

That is really nice of it. You are very correct. If the staff attending on us, are supportive, which is very much needed at that hour, the delivery process can be easily gone through.

Both of my 2 deliveries for my two sons were normal. The first one was so painful and I was on labor from evening and had delivered in the morning. The 2nd one was my water bag already burst when I was at home after dinner and we had to go to the hospital for my delivery, but then I had long hours laboring too and delivered early morning for my 2nd son. I dont want to go through that experience again. My sons are grown up teenagers now.

You had long hours of labour and must have suffered really a lot. When we think of those times, we feel how we underwent all those things is it not? Even I got pain early morning at 4.00 AM and my husband took me to hospital at 9.30 AM. But the delivery took place only in the evening at 4.30 pm. If I think of that, my body shakes.

I had a scheduled Caesarean :)
I had no problems with it & it was a good thing i was having one because when my daughter was cut out, they told me she was already overdue - even though they do the Caesarean's about 1-2 weeks early. Looks like we all got the conception date wrong which is why the due date was wrong.
I have thought about having a natural birth but after seeing what my Sister in Law went through i don't think i could, she is a small build & her sone was 7lb 14oz & after delivery, she needed full reconstructive surgery on her genital area because the baby did so much damage coming out - you'd think a Dr would see that it would do that & opt for a caesarean - for the safely & comfrort of both mother & baby, but ah well - he's out now!

My God just imagine how your sis_law went through all that. Must have taken a lot of time to recover I suppose. One way may be C-section is better I think. Even though it takes much time to recover, pain will not be there and this unexpected problem like your sis_law's, may be avoided.

I was able to have a normal, natural delivery with no pain meds. I had my daughter in a birthing tub. That was a really cool experience. The water was the only thing I had to help me with my pain. And that water really does help relax your muscles. It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget.

Oh! Just now I read about it in the previous response. Amazing friend. Am glad you had that experience. I do not know whether it is there in India.
