Hi! I'm from Peru, from Lima actually, but now I'm living at Malaysia. I think I can help you a bit since is only 6 months that I'm living here, I don't think Lima has change that much on 6 months. The first thing is when are you planning on going to Peru?? depending on the month, the city changes a lot and there are different things to do in Lima and on the other cities. I can tell you that this year is the APEC Convention on Lima and there are a lot of contruction and street fixing around the city so is a bit hectic, and is going to be like that all year.
