WOW thats a massive decision. I would talk to your doctor to see what you need. There are so many things that need to be supplimented that you cannot get from vegetarian foods...Good Luck with it..

As long as you do your research to make sure that you are getting enough of the right things, it should be ok, just dont want you to get sick..

Have you ever tried those morning star products? How about the bocca veggie burgers? the morning star products are real good.they have fake chickenpatties, "beef" strips, wraps, etc. I am trying to go veggie myself. So far i have gotten rid of pork, chicken and fish. i am having a real hard time with the beef

Beef and fish are no problem for me. I will miss chicken though. But, I am going to eat eggs and cheese. Yes, I have just purchased some morning star and bocca items today. Little by little all the bad stuff is leaving, making room for the good stuff. I'm also staying away from pop, and all dyes and artifical sweetners. How are you feeling going veggie?

If you are giving up meat you need to eat more legumes. Here is an excellent salad for a hot summer day when you can't bring yourself to cook a hot meal. 1 can of black beans drained and rinsed (19 oz) 1 can of whole kernel corn drained and rinsed (smaller can than beans) 1/2 red pepper chopped into julienne strips 1 green onion finely chopped 1 small or medium mango chopped 1 avocado chopped at the last minute so it does not turn brown 1 hard boiled egg (if you eat eggs) sliced or 1/2 cup of black pitted olives. Mix beans, corn peppers and onion dress with your favourite oil based dressing. Add mango and avocado. Mix again very lightly. Top with sliced egg or black olives Serve with baguette (french bread) Slice baguette lenghtwise, butter, top with grated cheddar and a dash of parmesan. Put under the broiler just until cheese is melted. Other items you can eat are cheese filled ravioli with tomato sauce or white sauce without shellfish. Pasta topped with drained white beans and spaghetti sauce. Orange lentils cooked the Indian way (Dhal) French lentils (green lentils) cooked and made into a salad or vegetarian meatloaf. (Good recipes are found on the internet) Vegetable Stir Fry with Tofu squares and nuts (peanuts or cashews) walnut spread or other nuts as sandwich filling Mushroom Teriyaki Instead of making chicken teriaki use portobello or fresh white mushrooms in recipe Vegetarian Chili Pierogies fille with mashed potatoes and cheese, or onions or cottage cheese or mushrooms, boiled and fried topped with fried onions and sour cream An All time favourite of mine: Cauliflower in batter. Separate cauliflower into florets. Boil until tender crisp. Drain and rinse immediately in cold water. The florets should still be firm. Make a pancake batter from mix, or from bisquick mix or from scratch. Dip florets into batter. Fry quickly in olive oil to which you added a tablespoon of batter, Drain on paper towels. Transfer to ovenproof dish. Keep warm in low oven until all are done. Serve as substitute for meat. Good luck with your quest.

I don't think bread will be enough. I will get beens and grains and tofu. I will never miss fish, I don't like it. I will miss chicken though.

Sweets, My fav for tofu is crumble it up in a bowl with diced celery, onions, green peppers, radishes, or whatever other fresh veggie you have on hand. Add mayo until it looks like egg salad. Serve it in a pita pocket or wrap with lettuce, sprouts, tomatoes...It is Yummy...You'll love it. Why are you going veggie? Are you still gonna eat dairy or no..Cheese is a good meat replacer as are beans. Lentils cooked into spag sauce instead of meat is also good...add some chick peas for more meatiness. Good luck doll xoxoxo
