do you know about this new rule in the schools. not sure if it's just in my area but kids are not allowed to make snow angels at school because it could affend other people's religion. as if, kids are just playing and having fun in the snow. does anyone agree with this. i don't. i think anyone has a right to their own religious beleives and express themselves, but it's not even about that. kids aren't trying to preach when they do that they are just having fun.

I think that is a lame rule. I agree, kids are just trying to have fun not preach. It sucks what the world is coming to, that we are teaching kids there is a limit to how much you can freely express yourself anymore. There are so many restrictions an politically correct things out there now. Where we live, when it snows the kids aren't even allowed to play in it at school. They might get wet and get sick and blah, blah, blah... When can we go back to just letting kids be kids and letting them grow up at their own pace?

Ok we have that rule here, but it has nothing to do with religion at all. The schools simply don’t want kids laying in the snow and getting their coats or pants wet, so the rule is “No laying or setting on the ground in rain or snow”. Never have I ever heard this related to it being a religious thing and I really think some may be feeding way too much into it. But I could be wrong.
Does the rule from the school it’s self actually state, no snow angels because it's will offend others?

Okay, that's just dumb. I'm Pagan, always have been, and yet I made "snow angels" right along with the other kids when I was a kid. I never even thought of it as being a religious thing, even though I knew that technically "angels" were part of someone else's religion. But really they don't even have to be angels, they can be snow birds, who cares????? It's just laying in the snow flopping your arms and legs around... how is that religious whatever you choose to call it?

i know i don't get it either, i guess now maybe if a kid galls in the snow and makes any print in the snow of his body hopefully they don't get punished and acused of making an angel. or do you think they have people to make sure the spot is covered up right away. k i know i'm being sarcastic but this is really dumb how this is not allowed anymore. your right though, maybe they should just try calling something else then it won't be a problem

You have got to be kidding! This is one of the dumbest things I've heard...I never even thought of snow angels as being religious. I just thought it was a fun way to play in the snow. Next they'll be banning snowmen on the basis that they are sexist (snowMEN not snowPEOPLE), racist because they are white, and they portray an unhealthy body image (round and overweight).
The dumbest thing at my kids' school is that they can't have a "Halloween" parade, it has to be a "costume" parade so as not to offend the Christians but then the they also can' have anything "Christmas", only "Holiday" or "Winter" so as not to offend everyone else. I feel like he attempt to please everyone has gotten out of hand and it's causing even more hard feelings and resentments between the various groups.
If we want our children to grow up tolerant of others WE, the adults, need to quit pointing out the differences.

That is probably the most pathetic rule that I have ever heard a school have there. There are much worse and more serious things than making a snow angel. I do not feel that it would offend people and if it offends just a few people, maybe those kids should be at a different school. The kids are just having fun and playing around and not doing harm to anyone.

Oh my GOD!!!! (yes I said God, and I meant it as a prayer. I turned to God in disbelie, as one would turn and look at their mother standing next to them when someone said something that startled them!!)
Political "correctness" has run amok. This is nuts!!!

I am sorry to hear about this. It is probably true though. It seems that there can be nothing in any way shape or form that has to do with religion in schools. I think this is so dumb. It doesn't hurt to have a moment of silence. You don't have to pray but the ones that want to pray should be alowed to.
In my state all the religion has been taken out of our schools already. However, the schools violence rates have gone up terribly. The kids can not pray but they can curse up a storm. Schools can not disipline a student but the student can disrespect and beat on teachers. From the teens that I have seen in the high school today they are very disrespectfull and they do not care about anything or any one. It is a shame.

That's the most rediculous thing I've every heard! I think I'd actually try to get a petition started about this one to tell the school board how stupid they are!
DOes a church that displays a cross outside it's building have to take it down, because it offends someone? NO! Does the school have to take down a mascot, because someone might not like it? Why take the fun away from the kids?! It just isn't right.

I would just think this is plain dumb and stupid, since these are just litle snow angels and kids playing in the snow.Even me, as a Satanist, i wouldnt agree with the sentiment unless it was a full grown adult doing that on my yard just to insult me and my beliefs

I completely agree with you that this is wrong. It is okay for other religions to wear their clothing because of their religious belief's and you don't see us going to our government telling them that they need to make that person wear regular clothes. Now whomever brought up that the kids need to quit making snow angels at school, are just picking to start a big ole debate and to get their way. So what if they are offended by it. I just don't get how it is okay of other religions to be offended by certain religions and get away with making people of that certain religion stop doing things they believe in, yet other religions don't get told not to do what they believe in.

I'm also not a Christian & it's never crossed my mind that snow angels are a Christian (or any other religions) symbol. That's crazy. I wouldn't encourage my child to make snow angels at school, because it seems too likely snow will get into his clothing & he'll have to sit through the rest of the day cold & wet. Also whenever there is that much snow here, school is usually canceled. But banning it on religious grounds is just retarded.

I remember 2 years ago my much younger sister and brother were sent home from school for making snow angels, they were 8 and 10. We are far from a religious family and it didn't seem to offend any one. Also at thier school they can't have any school parties or were halloween costums to school. Me and my mom would take cupcakes and what not to the school anyway, it was very sad to walk through the halls of the school and not see any decorations and seeing all those kids miss out on all of the fun stuff I did when I was thier age.
