We got our little girl "Fluffy" from a Shetler as are last cat we had to put him to sleep a year ago in January. And we got her in Feb. a year ago...She picked us out and I have to say I'm so glad she did as she is just a love. She is now 2 years old. We got her so quick after our one as we also have a mini schnauzer who is now 5 years old but had grown up with our Big boy who we had put to sleep.. He was 14 years old and was so close to our little dog "Buddy".. Buddy was so happy when we came home with "Fluffy"...If we wouldn't have gotten a cat for a long time he would of been heart borken as he was so close to our last one...
I believe in spaying or neutering as it can be healther for the pet if you don't plan on breeding them. Especially a cat...A female cat should be spayed as if you don't plan on having kittens it gets harder on them as they get older and go into heat...
Declawing I don't really like as if you seen how it was done on removing the claws it is so sad for the cat, but I can understand why some have it done as when my daughter was little we had a cat who would claw her each she walked by. Her legs were getting clawed so bad...But you can teach a cat to not claw furniture like we have trained our past cat and now this one...And it doesn't take much to teach them not to claw the furniture...

Thank You...Yes our Big Boy had kidney failure that is why we had to put him down back then. But out Little Girl that we got from the shelter has been a big comfort and a good friend to our miniature schnauzer..She is just wonderful...
It is easy to train a cat not to claw the furniture or claw at people..I wish more people would understand what it does to a cats paw when you have it done...

sorry for your loss i know what that is like it is so hard to put an animal down but sometimes it is for the best if they are ill sometimes u have no choice all my cats are fixed declawing is out of the question because i would not want someone to cut off my feet. cats can be trained sometimes discipline is good for them they are like little kids but i would never harm my babies in anyway

Well my husband has a love bird that his mother bought him at a tag sale when we were in high school. We have a parakeet that his aunt gave us cause she couldent care for it any more.
We have 2 cats that we adopted from a shelter and the newest addition is an 8week old kitten that the whole litter got dropped off at a horse stable and asked one of the stable people to find them homes and I decided to take one in.

I agree with you 100% more people should steralize there pets. We got our 2 oldest fixed as soon as they were old enough. Mainly cause we had 1 male and 1 female and we couldent afford to have additional kittens running arround. As soon as the new kitten is old enough I will have him fixed as well. My cats are indoor cats but there may come a time that they may get out and I know that the female wont come back pregnant or the boys wont be the cause for another cat having kittens.

you are to be commended i wish more people would step forward and adopt so many helpless animals at the shelters are put down because there is no room for them all i believe in spaying and neutering then we would not have to euthanize so many innocent animals who didnt create the situation that some are in

I have had three cats and they all found me, they came they ate and they stayed and got spoilt as they should be, I think it is a compliment when an animal picks you to be their carer, as soon as one of mine has passed away another seems to pop straight up on to my door step, I think I am very lucky.

yes u r very lucky to be a carer for so many of gods creatures unfortunately i could not keep all that came to me i rent and the owners will not allow it i dont like people like that but at the time i had no other place to go i am currently looking for a place that doesnt have jerks for landlords i believe if they have a no pets policy then i dont want to be associated with them noway they would not be compassionate about anything i can not imagine my life with out an animal companion it would be a lonely world cause i believe that they are are only true friends they listen dont judge what could be better than that

Years ago one of officemate had a female Siamese cat which had given birth to three little pretty kittens. He then asked me to pick any one which I liked. My kid and I then went to his house and found that the new born kittens were really cute. My kid loved them very much and straight away picked the whole white one pleasantly.
We then named her Mimi. As she had grown up we found that she was quite intelligent and could understand us in various respects. When we were going for vacation we used to take it to my mom’s house where she could receive well care and affaction when we were not with her.

my cat named squirell I got from an abuseive jerk that lived next door. his girlfrind asked my daughter if she wanted the cat and told us what her jerk boyfriend was soing to her so I took her in. my cat cubby bear i got from my downstairs neighbor because I fell in love as soon as I saw him. my male is neutered because I dont want kittens bu thte female is not because they dont go out. she is going to be as soon as I have enough money saved up. as far as declawing them I believe that is cruel. I have had to give up animals before due to circumstances beyond my controll but I found good homes for them. I think if you can find a no-kill facility it would be ok.

I got my cats from the shelter, and adopted them. They are both neutered, as it is better for them. I keep them inside. They both have their claws. Declawing is painful and very mean to do. I will take care of my cats forever, as they are part of the family. If there was a reason that I was too sick and could not, I would beg a friend to take them.

I have two cats and I got them both from the same registered breeder...They should be spayed if they are pets it adds to their life with less risk of infections and diseases...I would never in my wildest of wild dreams ever get a cat declawed its cruel and unneccesary..

My cats, Columbus and Waffles, were adopted from a shelter, while Mimi, my third cat, was adopted from my sister's friend at work. Seems that Mimi was going to be taken to a shelter, until I said yes, I will take her in. I'm glad that I did, although Mimi is not yet acclimated after seven weeks. She still growls at me and hits me with both of her paws.
All of my cats have been neutered/spayed, and have no issues with things like spraying furniture or whatever. They are sweet and friendly, except for Mimi.
And I would NEVER take any of my cats to a shelter!!! None of my cats are very young and would surely be put to sleep by the shelter, as no one would probably adopt them. My sister would probably take the cats in temporarily while she found loving homes for them, or perhaps adopt them herself. Nor would I ever, ever have any of my cats declawed. Poor Mimi's previous owners had the cat declawed, which was inhumane and painful to the cat. Those owners really should have their heads examined.
