wizarding. I read that she had wrote Dumbledore asking to get in to Hogwarts but she was denied. Was she a squib or a wizard? I can understand in the first book how she was so upset when Harry found out he was a wizard. Do you think that she may have stopped doing magic purely on the fact that Dumbledore would not accept her into Hogwarts? What is your opinion on it???

Petunia is not a squibb because there is no proof that except for Lily, somebody else in their family has magic in them. She is a muggle, with not an ounce of magic in her. In fact she is right to an extent in calling Lily a freak because she is the only one who can do magic in the family. I think she wrote to Dumbledore thinking that magic is something that can learned or transfered and because she of course wants to have the same experiences as Lily after all they were very close.

The only reason she called Lily a freak is because she didn't get into Hogwarts and it really made her upset. I do think that she did do some magic but not enough to earn her a place in Hogwarts.
I guess that is the beauty of books, you can just guess why something happened the way it did.

i know.. i wondered about her and uncle vernon and dudley too.. i expectd that they would see each other again.. but then it was never mentioned...
she is not a squib.. only people that came from a wizarding family that don't have magical powers are squibs.. lily is more of like hermione - who came from a muggle family..
she wrote to dumbledore because she wanted to go to hogwarts too since lily got her letter.. :)

Maybe she's meant to be like that in the book. She cannot perform magic at all maybe that's why she was not admitted at hogwarts. ;)

She can't be a squib, because a squib is someone born from magic parents, but with no magic ability - kind of like the opposite of a muggleborn.
Lily was a muggleborn witch and Petunia was just a muggle.
There isn't anything like having just a 'bit' of magic in you, but not enough - you either have it or you don't.
She loved her sister when she was little but hated that she was excluded from her wonderful 'world', so she had these mixed feelings and just ended up distancing herself from Lily because she was jealous.

I think that Petunia was jealous of Lily's magical abilities and wanted in on the action because Lily was getting all the attention and all that.I also think that Petunia was jealous of Lily's handsome rich wizard husband, while she(Petunia) got stuck with boring Vernon.
I mean who wouldn't want a handsome rich wizard guy?He could do all kinds of magic and she wouldn't ever have to work or do any housework unless she wanted to...To think she could have gotten the perfect cleanliness she seems obsessed about without putting in any effort at all!

She is a squib. Yes. I think she quit magicking because she wasn't accepted at Hogwarts. And she is bitter over Harry's acceptance at Hogwarts. Petunia is very upset when it was Lily who was accepted because she badly loved wizarding.
