Hi I'm a full-time Dad with 3 young kids to look after. I quit my full-time job as an administrator for almost 2 years and now I'm getting more despondent and reserved. I've just realised that I've aged by many years and am living in my own world without any social life as well. I'm glad I've found mylot here and hopefully can meet more friends and make a little earnings. I've signed up quite a few PTCs sites but they are paying peanuts. Can anyone introduce any genuine ways which I could make decent earnings with flexible working hours? Ebay is one alternative but there're fees involved and I don't know what items to specialise in selling. I'm poor in sales but have great love in teaching.

I've reached the conlusion that in order to make decent money at home, you would have to start a business of some sort.
Of course starting your own business presents many challenges. Some people do very well with this. Some don't.
Another options would be trancription. That isn't up my alley either, but from what I've seen a decent number of people do well with that.
The problem that I've found is that when I come across a decent work at home job that seems to be genuine, the competition to get into that company is huge and I usually can't compete.
I have found some decent proofreading sights only to find that the proofreaders that get the work are collge professors. I'm guessing that they must be retired and just suplementing their retirement income.
Sorry if I'm sounding like a pessimist. There is work out there it's just been hard for me to find my niche, I guess.
I will probably be going back to a traditional job soon.
A website that I found helpful when I was doing my search for a work at home job was wahm.com
Check it out. It might help you some.

Hi You are probably right that starting your own business is probably the most realistic way to make decent $$. I would have to find a niche somehow. I guess I should search for more information on proofreading etc. You are not being pessimistic the ways your suggestions go it is to be made aware that doing any kind of decent job is not going to be easy - there's just no easy way out to make a decent living. I quite like wahm.com and will find out more from the site. My only concern is whether they accept wahDs. Wish there's a site for daddys at home. Thanks so much for the help and advice. I really appreciate it.

I'm not sure how things are in your country. I can only give ideas I have seen in the US. Some of them might be an option for you....
Billing for offices
Transcription for offices
Editing
It will take a little time to get things set up, but if you can do one of these, put feelers out to different businesses in fields you know.
Good luck! :)

I'm thinking you might need to call the businesses you are interested in working for. If they are interested, a network could be set up.

I started out on mylot which I thought was promising in terms of earning power. But I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed and discouraged when I could only earn a few cents after much time taken to post comments and such. Nevertheless, like you've said, I'll continue to try here afterall I could still make new friends with same interests. Most importantly, I feel that mylot lets me express myself to the entire world. Good luck to both of us.
