I had a cat that liked to play hide and seek. It was the funniest thing on earth. He would wait my sister downstairs. One she got there he would bite her and scream, then he would hide behind the sofa, but he always left his tail on view. It was easy to find him :D Do your cat play with you like that?

If you equate intelligence to the "ability to learn", then I would say dogs are more intelligent than cats, because cats have a motivation problem when it comes to learning. By nature, cats are more loners compared to dogs, because cats hunt alone while dogs hunt in packs. As a result, cats don't have a social motivation for learning, and it is more difficult to train them compared to dogs. Dogs, by virtue of them being group hunters, need communication skills to hunt successfully, so they learn to obey orders. This makes them easier to train. If you compare intelligence by the ratio of the brain to the body weight, then cats have a higher ratio than dogs [man has the highest ratio]. A cat is much more dexterous with its paws than a dog. The dog, on the other hand, is much more of a social animal than a cat, and is considered more civilized, so in a sense they make better pets.

I've been interacting with quite a number of cats for 2 years now, and believe me, they are hard to teach. Often they wouldn't listen and follow instructions. Maybe I am a bad teacher...haha.

Wow that's really cool! My cat can't play hide and seek but he can play fetch. My dog can't even do that, and that's what dogs are supposed to do! So yes, cats are definitely smarter than dogs.

Yes, it is true that cats are more intelligent than dogs. They love games like that, hide and seek. I play with mine that way too. I have a cat that sits up on her hind legs like a dog begging, for me to pick her up. They speak and have body langage to let me know anything that they want.

Well I don't know about others but mine is...... lol!!! I guess they both are intelligent in their own way. In my opinion dogs and cats should never be compared because they are two different species and are special in their own way.
