Is it a burden to carry a laptop when going out?

After knowing that I’m sad and grumbling about to stay away from mylot for a week or so, some friends suggested me to get a brand new laptop along with me.
My hubby felt sorry as he couldn't agree with this and worried that it would be a burden for me to carry the laptop along especially when going out alone out station. Worst still if the place there I couldn’t get any internet connection. He also worried that if he were not by my side he wondered whether I could manage to take care of the laptop and the luggage when going to the toilet.
I wonder whether I should have a laptop with me when I’m going out alone. Please share your views. Thank you, my friends.

If your laptop isn't small, I think it will be a burden to carry it when you go out. I remember when we had honeymoon, we carried our laptop because at that time the memory card space was not as large as today. Besides, there was no portable hard disk which I could transfer and store my digital photos. We had to bring our laptop since we took many photos and we had to keep it so that we could empty the memory card and take photos again. It's very inconvenient especially when we climbed the mountain.
If you really need a laptop to go out but you think it's so troublesome. Why not consider to have a PDA or a smartphone? It can not work as well as a laptop, but at least it's small to keep with you.
I love China

Right youless, it’s really a burden to carry a big and heavy laptop when going out especially for a woman. Lol though it was rather inconvenient it was still worth to carry a laptop along during your honeymoon for you could transfer all the images from your camera to empty the memory card so you could reuse it repeatedly. Anyway we are lucky enough if to compare to those days with our parents who used the old model cameras
Yeah, nowadays lots of devices are improving tremendously for the users’ convenience. The latest 9 inches LCD Asus brand laptop is quite small and lovely. I believe it is quite handy and convenient to bring it along when going outing.
Thanks for your suggestion. I’m also quite interestied in those small and multifunction electronic devices like PDA and phones with windows mobiles and keyboard and of course their prices are comparatively higher.
posting and have a nice day.

Thanks a lot youless. You are really enthusiastic and generous for willing to share your collection of games and tools with me. I really appreciate your kindness. I’m very glad that I could get the facilities from you if I were to buy any PDA or smartphone.
posting and take care.

You can take your computer now from one place to another keeping it in your pocket. Yes it is amazing news. I am doing it well. I have purchased a data traveler with the help of which I load all of the data and take it to another place to feed it to another computer and work there well. You can also use this during travel from one place to another very easily.

Your device of keeping information is quite handy and convenient. It's also very useful for a traveler who could use it anytime and anywhere just to feed it to a computer. At present I use a 2G pendrive which is enough for me to keep information.
Thanks for your informatic words and the link facilities.

It's not a burden for me. I find it more convenient and at least I won't be wasting time when I'm not doing anything.

lkbooi,
That would be a great idea to use laptop to save the time. Better be very careful if walk on the street or station, who ever watch you bring the laptop and want it, or trying to rob you.
Your safety is more important than the laptop but we can't loose it either, laptop a very valuable gadget and expensive one.
Make sure you use save rote when you walk with your laptop.
I do want one too, consider there is a lot of places here in Bali have free wifi
I wish...

A laptop can be very convenient in the home since you can use it anywhere that you like, even in the garden if the weather is nice. When it comes to travelling a laptop is fine if you simply travel to one placesuch as a friend or relative's home, but would certainly be a burden if you were travelling around.
I cannot understand the current trend of marketing laptops with 17 inch widescreen displays, as this makes the whole article much less mobile.

It’s a pleasant moment to enjoy surfing net and mylotting with laptop at certain beautiful environment like garden as you had mentioned. No doubt to travel around with a laptop could be a bit troublesome but it could be quite useful for us when we stay away from home. I did see people enjoying themselves with their laptops at the coffee beans or startbuck coffee very often when I was on my vacation to a hill station recently. The weather there was cool and pleasant. It’s a really a good place for net browsing and mylotting lol...

Laptop is very convenient if it's used properly. But still it's also a burden because the laptop theft is one of the drawback of using it. We need to carry it everywhere if possible and avoid leaving it in the car. The company laptop that I had been using was stolen when I went hiking with friends years back. Some of my friends are having similar experience too, and it's become a 'burden' to be wary when carrying the laptop everywhere we go. The other disadvantage is the power supply because the battery can only last for atmost about 4 hours. (assuming operating at the normal consumption rate, not in standby mode or idling mode).

No doubt using any device has its own advantage and disadvantage like problems of functioning, transportation and safety. Though laptop might be a burden in terms of weight and safety it’s still a very convenient device to use outdoor. Weight for a young guy doesn’t matter much. It could make him tougher lol...

Other than its weight might give us some problems especially for a lady, it’s true that we must aware of certain bad eggs lurking some where in the dark for the games. Anyhow it’s still worth carrying a laptop as it’s so useful to us especially when we are away from home.

Hello dear lkbooi. It depends on how much you want to use your laptop when going out. I mean,if you have to use it to work, then it is ok, otherwise, there is no need to bring a laptop with you, because it is not safe to always carry it with you when you are away from home. I have a friend, who carried her laptop to Mcdonald's to eat something there. She did not stay away from her bag with her computer in it before it was stolen from her seat even though there were some other customers there. I was so sad to know that when she told me about her bad luck. So I think that it is safe to always use your laptop either in your own house or in the office, not when you are travelling. Thanks.

It’s really sad that the danger of laptop being stolen could be so serious nowadays that most people are afraid to carry it out from their home. Anyway if we could take proper precaution beforehand I believe we could manage to reduce the risk of losing the laptop.

It depends. If you are to commute, then it will really be a burden. because you have to carry it until you reach your destination. But if you are driving your own car then it will be easy only to bring your laptop. Exect, you ae going to walk a mile or two going to your place.
