Dear Friends, two days ago, I sold all my old newspapers and the very same day, my Newspaper man did not turn up. So there was no newspaper to read. I felt something was badly missing on that day, I really felt restless and unfortunately could not go to market to buy a newspaper.
I make it a point to read Newspapers, before I leave for my work and on holidays also, I start my day with Newspaper.
I just cannot remain without reading newspaper. In this day of TV and Internet...Newspaper still carries its value, I beleive.
What about you? Do you read your newspaper daily and do you miss your newspaper, when due to one reason or another you are not able to get hold of it?
Thanks for your views and experiences in advance.

Yes I look forward to my daily newspaper early in the morning and on national holidays, when the newspaper office is closed, I miss it the next day. I am not a very TV person. I like to spend half an hour each morning going through the newspaper and its supplements. Its like my connection to the outer world. Local TV channels play the same local news throughout the day and for any ‘breaking news’ you have to really stare hard at the screen to read the scrolling news. For national and international news, you have to ‘hop’ channels, for which I have neither the time nor the inclination. So my morning newspaper gives me a synopsis of all local, national and international & sports news alongwith juicy tidbits. I also love the fresh smell of the morning paper.

thnks, I love reading too. I also believe that since parents have a huge impact on their children, regular reading by parents inculcate the habit of reading in our children too.

I entirely agree with you...that whatever we do..our children follow that and if we go for reading...they will follow it atleast partially. YOu are really very thoughtful and intelligent.
Thanks for your counter-comments....I love reading counter-comments and sub-comments on my discussions.
Have a nice day!

Dear Sudipta, I am really really impressed to read your reply. You have written very beautifully, simple, clear and meaningful. Also, our thinking appears on the same wavelenth. I just do not like watching news on TV, you are right it is difficult to surf channels, instead reading a newspaper is a better option. It gives fuel to our minds.Even supplements give us lot of interesting materials to read. On Sundays, I try reading 3-4 newspapers and I enjoy it thoroughly. TV news channels have also become quire boring and disgusting, they give you filthy and unnecessary items in the shape of so called news.
Thanks very much for your wonderful reply. Keep it up!
Deepak

A newspaper is something that I have not read for years. I gradually became fed up of reading bad news and crime on a regular daily basis, which is always printed because newspapers seem to prefer printing bad news than good news.
As my eyesight gradually depreciated I finally decided that it was not worth the effort, so these days I even decline the free copies that are given out.

I agree with you that negative news sometimes makes us disinterested in reading a newspaper. I can understand that one of the reasons for not reading newspaper is that your eyesight got poor and you used to find it difficult to read smaller fonts.

Well, if you ask me, i would say that in the morning i hardly read through the pages of newspapers and days go by when i don't even glance through it!! Don't get an attack, it's true. with the intervention of increasing no. of TV channels, i donot read the intricate details as i used to do a few years back. But, deepak, the days after the bandhs and national holidays when we don't get our newspapers delivered, i get bored and "miss" it!! we seldom know the importance of a thing unless its not there and the same thing happens with me.
Deepak, I really appreciate your habit of reading the daily papers. you are like my father who would dissect through the paper by the time the day comes to an end. LOL...
pls keep it up.
Happy newspaper reading.

Ok firstly let me ask WHO do you sell your newspapers to? I didn't know you could sell your old newspapers! We just put ours out for recyling, well we do at work anyway. At home we don't get a daily newspaper, for starters there are no local newsagents to us who offer home delivery and with the news available on the internet, one can pick and choose which news items to read without paying for a paper which is mostly full of adverts anyway.
Now I'm intrigued to find out who buys your OLD newspapers? :)

Wel i can tell you that i do have the same habit as you, and the newspaper is also braught to my house every day at 6 a.m.
I know that i never tackled a situation where the newspaper was not delivered but i do think that if that would happen to me, i would just go and buy one in the grocery store which is near my house.

We used to have our newspaper delivered, but I gave up on this idea when they kept throwing it under the car, & I found it difficult to get it out. Or they would hot a shrub with the newspaper, doing it damage.

Dear Deepak
I will not deny this .. I don't read newspaper on daily basis .. I hardly get the time to read newspaper actually .. I used to read newspaper earlier on daily basis .. but my habit does not exist anymore .. Moreover newspaper is filled up with rape, murder and other things that it just take away my peace of mind .. so I avoid it and read it only and when necessary and when the light is gone and I have nothing to do.

I agree that newspaper are sometimes full of yellow jouranlism and useless murder and rape stories. Yet you can find out news item of your interest and Supplement along with Newspaper also contain lot of interesting material to read. I think, it is better to read newspaper than to see rubbish at Hindi TV news channels.
Thanks for replying.
Have a nice day!

I used to very much enjoy reading the newspaper every dauy. I don't anymore. Partly this is because I don't have time to read it every day. mIf I don't have time to read it properly, it is just a waste of money buying it every day.
I did buy the Sunday Mail this week, which is unusual for me. I read it from cover to cover.

Newspapers occupy very important part in our lives. In fact they are part and parcel of our daily routine. Morning, as soon as I get up, it is my duty to open the door and take the paper in. Immediately I go inside, just rush through the pages of two news papers that we buy, one being tabloid, and grasp the hot news and very important means, I read it. Then after making coffee I rush it through for secondary important matters. Then in the afternoon, the rest. So it occupies every section of the day in my daily routine. Suppose the delivery boy forgot to put the paper and I could not go to the vendor's shop immediately, then the emptiness will be there in one side of the mind and at the earliest opportunity, I rush to the shop and get it.

i definately do!! especially as it's my habit to read newpapers just after rising from my bed!sometimes i do i prefer to read them even before brushig up;)here usually they don't publish it on the days of public vacations and at those days i feel a bit disconnected from news around me and the country(i don't prefer watching news as they more concentrate on spicing up the news rather then focusing on the real issue!!)

Sometimes i miss to read newspaper. In the morning time i dont find time to read paper but i make sure to read the news in my office break time by 11.00 am.
My father is someone in our home who never misses to read newspaper.Even if the paper man fails to deliver newspaper someday , he will buy it from the shop.I feel newspapers cover all the incidents which we can go through in a short duration than tv news which is telecasted for half an hour.More than this my daddy always says that we can improve english very well when reading newspapers.

I read the papers only when there is time for it. If I missed it in the morning before setting off to work, that's it. I would not linger after it as I do not depend on the news in the papers for information. At times, I read the papers at one go - when I was putting them away.

Hi friend, actually I don't read nwspaper and no delivery men who supplies me all the time. I think tv news are fine with me. And sometimes I being fed up too, to read or to watch news because most of the headlines and top stories are no that good and some are very depressing to know about our countries and our fellow men and sometimes It is really depressing If you hear or read that there is no peace in any part of the world.
