With the dirty environment nowadays water has become so expensive. We don't drink water from the faucet any longer. We buy purified water from a refilling station. Especially when rainy days come. Water from the reservoir are disturbed and so the dirt below goes up and makes it hard to clean the water.

I still drink tap water at home and in counties where it is safe to do so. I like to drink it but know many people that never drink it. I think it is healthy to drink water though. My mum drinks tea and does not like any other sorts of drinks, even water. I usually carry a bottle of water when I go our walking, especially on a warm day. I love ice cold water but am happy to drink it even if it heats a little when traveling in a hot country. I sometimes need to buy mineral water because an area in a country has unsafe tap water. I could think of filtering my home tap water but I think it is fine.

We manage to drink with our water purifier I bought for almost 10 yrs. now when I had my second baby.
Your right it is not really safe to drink direct to the faucet I'm lucky that I had a water purifier and I can protect my family from any diseases.

water purifier is indeed a great help to people who live in places wherein tap water is not safe to drink. good thing about water purifiers is that they do last long when well taken cared of. so, good for you lynboobsy for having it! it's a great tool in households.

No, I drink mineral water. We get a big can that lasts for atleast 10 days. That is what available here for drinking. The water here in Dubai is hard water so it is not suitable for drinking, but people who cannot afford for mineral water often drinks tap water while they are working at sites. It is not harmful but tastes different due to the chemical treatment for purifying it.

We have a Brita water filter attached to our tap so the water is safe, although it tastes a bit alkali when it first comes out of it. When we lived in British Columbia (we live in Manitoba, Canada) the water was fairly clear, but no minerals in it and when we went through Alberta, the water was terrible and everyone there had to use purified water because of all the minerals in it. Here in Manitoba at certain times of the year, the water level of Lake Winnipeg is lower and we get a lot of algae taste in our water, so we have to use purified water, either from the tap or bottles, although in Winnipeg, they are improving the city filtering system.

I grew up on tap water and it never bothered me until I met my husband. He just couldn't drink the tap water so I caved in and we bought a water cooler. Now I would never drink tap water, but I do use it for cooking still. I don't believe anything is really wrong with it, I just like the purity of the bottled water.

yup. i do still drink tap water. i hate the idea of wasting money buying gallons and gallons of bottled water from stores just to have some water to take in.
i guess i am just very lucky to live in two places where tap water is really clean. i had my first 28 years in davao city, philippines wherein it's tap water is one of the world's cleanest. i migrated to sweden since june of this year and sweden's tap water is also one of the best waters in the world. so, good for me. no need to buy water from water stores. i can save money and enjoy just having water whenever i want to.

I live deep in the country, so I have well-water. My well is between 80 & 90 feet deep into an underground river, so I never have to worry about pollution and things like that. I DO have to worry about a somewhat sulfer taste, not harmful to drink, but it does taste a little different. To combat the sulfer taste, I have a Brita filter attatched to the faucet, and after going through it, it tastes wonderful. I also have purity tests on the well every few years, just to make sure...the last test was about a year ago and they said it was crystal clear, and there is no presence of any germs or organisms. It's 100% safe!

The water from our tap is quite OK. Compared with most places, it is probably at the top end of the scale, but I use a Brita water filter jug for drinking water.
I bought one of these more than a year ago when it was on special for half price. I was thrilled with the quality of the water and now drink so much more water. I now prefer cold water to any other drink and found that one jug in the fridge wasn't enough, especially when we used that water to refill the electric jug for tea and coffee. Now I have a second Brita jug which is kept out of the fridge and used to refill the electric jug.
The replaceable filters are not expensive, especially when bought on specials, and the water is only a fraction of the cost of bottled water.

nope, in my country it's not advisable to drink straight from the tap. best practice is to boil the water first and then drink it. at home, we have a water filter, but still we do not drink directly. we will always boil the water first before drinking. when i was studying in the UK few years ago, i did drink from the tap though;)

We never drink the water taken straight from the tap. First we filter it and then boil it so most of the bacteria should be reduced. :) We live in an area that has large amounts of limestone so the water we drink tend to have limestone residues in and leaves limescale.

Not at all, we prefer a water purfier. The Pollution has increased a lot and water hasn't been spared either. The tap water is polluted these days even though one can't see the dirt particles with naked eye. But still filtered water is better is far better and why risk your health when you have got better means to be safe.

I drank tap water until coming to this town in which I am currently living. Local coal mining sites discharge their brine into the river from which our drinking water is made. They have admitted that it kills fish...so why would I want to drink it!?! It angers me that I have to pay the water bill and still go buy water. It also angers me that they were able to get the discharge of the brine by the EPA somehow. (the EPA came...and all they told them to do was to begin discharging it further down the river where it was deeper...so that the fish wouldn't die.) Still, that means that whatever is in that water kills fish...if it has to be that dilute not to!!! I hate buying bottled water too, because those jugs end up in the landfill! (I do try to buy the gallon jugs rather than so many of the small bottles) What a terrible situation.
