I like www.hardwareanalysis.com. I've been a member there for the past few years and there are a lot of knowledgeable people there.

There are a few around, but the majority tend to be directed towards specific subjects. The only general one that I know is http://forums.nurv.com/it/ which I have not used so cannot really comment on. I have used Linux Questions and a selection of Linux specific forums for Mandriva, Ubuntu and Xandros. These of course are of little interest from the general IT perspective. It surprises me that Mylot does not have a much better following for the computer related categories, especially considering how many members there are. I am sure that it would also attract a much stronger audience.

The one IT and tech forum I tend to go to when I need help with a problem is http://sysopt.com . Have him check this one out. I am not in the IT industry but am tech enough that I am the guy many go to when they need a problem solved on their computer. Most times I can figure out what to do, but their forums have helped to get a couple of computers back up and running.
