My mom did this to my cat. She had cancer for the second time. I didn't want her to do it but I saw the pain in my cat's eyes so I knew it was for the best. Sometimes the hardest things are the right things to do!

She was in pain...do you leave them like that or do you put them out of their misery? It's better than what my mom did to my doberman...she got my grandfather to shoot it because it protected me with everything it had...and she didn't like it...

now thats a bad thing to do!! if the dog is healthy ... killing is absolutely cruel and it should be considered as a crime!!

I went through this when my retreiver was 13 yrs old suffering from arthritis and partially blind. He was suffering alot from the pain and bumping into things.I went there and held his head against my chest and he looked at me and understood"no more suffering"was to come.I think if the pet is suffering alot and nothing helps i would ease their pain. Its not bad.Alot of people put their pets to sleep because they dont want them. This is something i dont agree on.

i agree if they r in pain theres no other way!! must be so hard to see ur own pet, that u get soo attached over the years, suffering like that!! but the decision is also hard! it takes a lot of courage and someone has to be real rational and not emotional to be able to do whats best!!
Im totally against euthanizing animals cause they were abandon or cause someone cant take care of them... thats just cruelty!!

you know this is a very hard thing for anyone with a pet. A few years ago my mother and step-father had finally decided to put there dog to sleep. It was VERY hard on my mom the most but they couldent watch Maggie suffer any more. the poor baby was oppoin and peeing on the floor and could bearly walk because of having arthritis. They decided to end her pain and as hard as it was it really was the best thing to do for Maggie.
For every one who has a pet they will have to make this decission at some time and it wont be easy. We have 3 cats and I know we will have to make the decission eventually. The thing is untill that happins we are going to enjoy them.

i agree we should concentrate on making our pets happy while they are with us!! and hope that we will never hv to make a decision like that!!
i love my dog soo much its really painful thinking that some day she will be suffering and i will hv to put her to sleep!! i just like to think that when she has to die it will be peaceful :)

My doberman was diagnosised with diabetes almost 3 years ago. It seemed unlikely she would live more than another few months. She requires prescription food, insulin & of course the needles to administer the insulin; all of which costs me close to $100 a month. But she's part of the family, doing our best to maintain her comfort in her final days was the only choice for us. A few months has turned into a few years, and she's still doing alright. She's not as active as she once was, and she's lost her sight; but she appears to be comfortable. If she seemed to be in pain, I'd feel differently. But I am very happy to have had these 3 years with her. My youngest son has been able to bond with her & know the joys of having a dog (we won't be getting another any time soon after she does pass) and we've gotten to bring her on dozens of family vacations, spending more downtime with her.

You really have to. In order to own a pet you have to be realistic in that you will probably outlive them and will one day have to say goodbye. It's kinder to help them out when they're not going on their own. Our pets love us so much that they keep struggling just to be with us.
I have to put down my girl in October. She was the best dog in the world, and she lived a great life. I miss her everyday, but I know she's happier and in no more pain.

hi there! ;0
hmm, just thinking of allowing someone to take away the life of my pet makes me so sad. :( makes me wanna cry. for me, i really wouldnt impose euthanasia on my pets. maybe some people would agree to it, but me, nah. i would just wait for my pet to die naturally. :)
thank yoi and good day! :)
