As far as I know it makes no difference to your star or earnings. The main reason you put tags in, is so when people are looking for a certain type of discussion they can put certain words in the search part. If they type in one of the words that is your tag, then your discussion should come up. It is to try and make it easier to find certain discussions. I hope this help.

I don't know, but I don't think it helps the user, but it maybe it will help the search engines find discussions if people are "googling" for something..

I wonder the same thing. When I first joined MyLot, I put tags on my discussions. I stopped after a while and then I happened to see a post about how important it is to tag your discussions and your responses, so I started tagging again just in case it is important. I still don't really know if it really is important or not.
