Did anyone have spotting during the early months of their pregnancy? I heard if you are having a lesser version of your period, you could still be pregnant?

You cannot technically have a period when you are pregnant. However, it is very common to experience implantation bleeding - which generally occurs right around the time you would normally have had a period. There are other causes of bleeding during early pregnancy - some are harmless and others could be a sign of an impending miscarriage. I would let your doctor know asap - an exam and/or ultrasound will probably be ordered to determine the cause and whether or not there is any reason for concern. Personally, I had spotting during my first trimester with my second child. No cause was ever found, but it was not anything like a period. Hope this helps.

This is totally normal and happens to most women...You can still be pregnant, its just your body getting rid of excess when it would have usually been your time..

From: http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/pcomplications/0,,midwife_3p59,00.html "Spotting during early pregnancy can be very normal. Sometimes it is accompanied by lower back pain and cramping in the lower abdomen." The article goes on to mention that this is, of course, also an early sign of miscarriage. So while it's not necesarily something to worry about, it'd still be a good idea to talk to your obstetrician about it.
