How much does someone religion mean to you?

If you becomes someone's friend and like them a lot and then later find out that they are a certian religion and you happen to disagree with it or just don't like it much, would you choose not to be their friend anymore? And if you choose not to be woud you tell them to their face or at all, and would you say why ?
