My son is 5 years old this year. So far he's been a scarecrow (twice), baseball player, devil and Tigger for Halloween. I'm trying to decide what to dress him up as this year. I like to have it decided by the end of August so I can make his costume. I'd like this year to be able to dress up in an accompanying costume, myself. Any ideas?

Last year, my son wanted to be a pile of leaves. It took a while to contruct his costume, but we got it done. He wore an orange sweat suit, and we pinned garlands of autumn leaves on it. Then I took an old baseball hat, and glued more leaves on it. He carried a small rake with him. I wish I had a picture of him, because, whether he thought so or not, he was adorable! A coresponding outfit for you could just be you, with a rake, and a garbage or yardwaste bag? hee hee! My son, this year, thinks he's going to be spiderman. Lord, help me! I don't think I can afford the prices of those costumes!!

One of the quickest and easiest outfits owuld be a white sheet over his head with eye holes and a belt around his waist. Allyou need then is an empty bottle of wither scotch, brandy, rum etc. and he becomes a "Departed Spirit"

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween! Thinking back to when I was a kid, some of the costumes my mom made for me and my brothers: Lion, Devil, Skeleton (that one was SOOO cool, but so much work for my mom), Grim Reaper, pumpkin, witch, clown, superman, horse (I begged one year to be a horse!) The Devil was really so cute on my little brother. A 5 year old has probably outgrown the pumpkin, and the grim reaper is probably to grown up for him. I don't know, there are so many things.. Bat, Spider, vampire... I like spooky or scary costumes for halloween. None of this princess stuff... I don't know, ask him what some of his favorite things are...

Unfortunately, he can't really tell me what his favorite things are. He's non-verbal. But I've been thinking lately that a bat might be cool. Or, since he seems to really enjoy watching my Animaniacs videos maybe dressing him up as one of the characters from the show.
