Does moving the mouse really fast around the screen help the page load faster?

When I am waiting for a page to load, I will move my mouse really super fast around the screen and then my page comes up..Is it because I moved the mouse around, or did it just happen to come up on its own, and I just think it was my super fast moves with the mouse? I am moving the mouse down to start this discussion. Was that fast or what?

Well, you are lucky, moving the mouse super fast slows things down for me,lol! I think it's got something to do with the fact I'm not very patient in waiting for a page to load, and moving the mouse around really fast saying 'C'mon, c'mon, grrrr' makes it seem to take twice as long!!!

I just don't have the patience anymore I guess..I want things to be super duper fast. I don't have time to wait around..Doesn't my computer know this? I mean, we have been together for 3 years now, you would think my computer would know something about me by now!

Sometimes it does appear that it does load faster when you move the mouse around real fast. It is a habit I picked up from my mom..I think it just seems that way because if we just stare at it loading(the little bar)it seems to take forever. Just like they say never watch a pot of water your trying to boil takes forever so the mouse takes our focus off of it and so it does seem it loads faster..for me anyhow..I have dial up which is turtle powered..lol

Hello Feona1962,
I don't know about this and I tried to 'follow your advice' just now but nothing happened. The page still very slow to come up... and so I am not so sure about the answer *smiles*
I have been thinking whether each page will come up fast or slow depends on your internet connection. I am using ADSL right now. Sometimes, it is super fast and some times it is just as slow as using a dial up...
By the way, who is that on your avatar? So cute photo you have there...

I smile everytime I see your avatar..very cute.

Yes, it would be a very nice thing to try in our own lives. The "magic" of childhood. Thank you for the nice story..*smiles*

I think they call it a magical thought. I remembered that when I was little I used to have a little plastic pig. I thought that if I pointed it to my teacher she would give us less homework to do.
I believed that so hard that my brother asked me to trade the pig for a toy he had for a week, because he felt that I had less homework than him.
I am sure now that it didn't work, but at the time I believed with all my heart. If you believe that way you will never notice the times that the "magic" didn't work. You will see only success.
This could be a nice thing to try in our lives.

LOL no it don't work.. My mom does it all the time than gets frustrated cause the page is taking for ever to load.. I told her it's because she keeps moving the mouse around.. When you don't touch the mouse it does move a bit faster. I am thinking it has something to do with that.. I don't know...lol

Lol! Sometimes i do that.. but nothing really happens! I guess its just a way to take away the boredom of waiting.. until the page loads.. :-) it really depends on the internet connection and i think on the computer too.

No! It was a serious question. It just seems like when I move my mouse really fast the page seems to load faster..But it doesn't really work. You are right it is just a diversion...

Hello Feona1962!:-)
Yes and No, lol. Actually it doesn't make things work faster or load pages quicker but it feel so. The reason lies in the fact that psychologically, humans do not like to wait and a waiting minute is always longer than 60 seconds. It's just our mental impression that make things feel slower than actual when we want them to be faster and faster than actual when we want them to go slow. It's just relativistic mental imagination. So, while we indulge in some activity, we get rid of our simple waiting, thus things start moving at faster rate than we were expecting them.
But, it really is a fun activity. When my partner was here we used to play a game. While downloading a movie from a server or a book or something, she sometimes stared at the status bar and would shout, look...it's downloading faster now and I would say like let me stare and you will see it downloads even faster, so when I did and said look it's faster now, she would say no, it's now slower than before, lol! It was quite a fun:-)

Yea i have to agree with the others. It just seems to go faster, but its not. I was actually told that moving it around slows your computer down. I dont know if there is any truth to that one either. But if it makes you happy...

OH yes it absolutely helps! LOL You know what also helps? Move your mouse around in figure eight patterns or spell your name or nasty words. That always makes my screen respond faster. ha ha

There is no technical reason to explain why moving the mouse across the screen could make pages load faster. But if it did for you you have beaten the science limits! ;)

About 10 days ago my mouse was moving all over the screen on its own and all it did was piss me off. That was the beginning of the end of that computer so my answer would have to be no!

Wow, if I thought that it did make pages load faster, I'd move that mouse so fast that the mousepad under it would smoke! I really don't think that it does make pages load faster, it just makes it seem so as it gives us something to do while we wait (quite impatiently in my case!) for the page to load. I get so impatient sometimes when a page is very slow. I'll even re-load it hoping it will be faster...and it isn't...so in the end I waited twice as long due to my impatience!

I tend to do this myself but don't believe that it actually loads the page faster but more because we are not just sitting their doing nothing , it makes it seem like it is really loading faster . It is a pain when you are waiting for a page to load and it seems to be going slow and when you are just sitting their doing nothing it seems to take even longer . I don't have patience for this and my husband always laughs at me for this and tells me to just wait as it will load when it is ready but I feel that I pay for high speed and that is what I want lol .

I too move my mouse eagerly, no, I should say impatiently in the hope that the screen will load faster. At times, I even minimise the browser. Does this increase the speed of loading? lol. I would think it makes it faster psychologoically since you are not staring at it, waiting for it to finish loading.

Hi Feona1962! What I really know is that it has something to do with your internet connection...but you know what, before I replied to your discussion, I tried moving my mouse and wow, it did open the page faster. Honest! It did! Was it a coincidence or what? Have a nice day!
