to take my husband on an anniversary mini vacation this fall--- our Anniversay is the end of October to I booked 4 days at Disney in Florida. We will be together 25 yrs this year and he has been working hard on the house and at his job so I thought why not- lets just do it....he has not idea that we are going-- I am gonna wait till a day or two before we leave to tell him (if I can keep my mouth shut that long) LOL. I know I should probably save the money for something we need but all I keep thinking about is when my dad died - my parents had plans to do some traveling when he got out of the hospital because they had money to do so- and all I remember is my mother saying why did we wait - we should have put ourselves in a little debt to do what we wanted when we wanted instead of waiting now he is gone!!! I feel good about this- not guilty at all.....you never know what will happen tomorrow- sieze the day!!!!!!

Awwwwwwww, firstly, congratulations on twenty-five years of marriage, for October, Shambuca. I think it's a lovely idea you have to surprise your hubby this way in appreciation of all the work he's done on the house and everything. There's just one little thing you've overlooked though, it would seem. If you don't tell him until a couple of days before you're due to leave, how will he secure time off work? Will you phone his employers or something? Don't forget that little part, will you? lol. I really hope you have a lovely time and that he feels pampered! Brightest Blessings and good luck.

Please don't feel guilty for a moment my friend! Life is for living. You go and have a wondeful time for your anniversary, and whatever you need for the house of whatever can wait a bit longer. I think it's great that you're surprising your husband with this - he will be thrilled I'm sure:-)) As usual, our lives "mirror" each other quite remarkably........ it is my beloved's birthday on October 27th and I'm taking him to Sweden for a week as his present because he just loves it there! He does know though- he needed to because of booking time off work and stuff! So you have a good time - you deserve it:-))

Oh how wonderful- our trip is the same weekend as yours- the 26th- 29th--- how funny is that. Now Sweden sounds like a blast- it must be beautiful...you are so lucky living so close to all these wonderful places you can travel to. I have always wanted to surprise my husband like this - I this is the moment-- I have his bosses number in my cell phone so I called him and left him a message and told him that if he tells I will kill him...LOL... cause the only other person that knows is my mother. It's funny cause I have never met this man but we have spoken on the phone several times and Darren has only been there since January. Thanks for the support- I just am gonna have a real hard time keeping my BIG mouth shut!!! LOL-- I almost slipped yesterday and that was only 24 hours after booking it...LOL LOL. I hope you both have a wonderful time too-- Like my mom says do it now caus eyou never know what tomorrow will bring-- she is so right- and I think she is happy that we are learning from her mistake. Hope all is well wih you!!!!

Yuck-- yesterday it was like 102-- today it is so much cooler- so far today the high is 85- this time yesterday was 95. If I had to endure that type of temp on vacation - it wouldn't be a vacation.

I think its what we really need right now- the only problem is I wish it were right now instead of 2 months from now-- but it would be way to hot in FL right now anyway.

What a lovely idea. I don't blame you for taking the opportunity to go on holiday - you shouldn't feel guilty at all. Like you said, you never know what's around the corner. Have a lovely time.

Oh thank you so much- I haven't been on a real vacation (you know - flying somewhere and staying in a hotel - ordering room service) in many years-- our vacations these past years have been visiting family in Vermont (which is nice but not the same) or going to the shore and staying with friends (also not the same)....so I am truely excited!!!! I will keep you posted as to whether I gave in and told him- I will try my best to keep my trap shut though....LOL...keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!

keeping this secret is the hardest thing I've had to to in a long time- I had a huge party for him when he turned 21- but we weren't living together then - it was so much easier....ugh-- I wish I had booked it sooner!!! LOL

No need to feel quilty one of my favorite sayings is you might as well spend it while your alive because you cant take it with you when you go!! and it also sounds to me like to two of you could use the break not to mention 25yrs together is worth celebrating. ive been with my husband almost 11yrs married almost 6 of them and for our 4 yr wedding anniversary we did the same we took of to disney for 4 days and although we had to come home to bills, rent and responsibiltes it was great to be able to relax for a few days and only think about one another. have a great trip and be sure to let us know how it went! Good Luck

Thanks - You are exactly right----- thats what it really comes down to is we need to just concentrate on us for a change instead of everything else in our lives - fortunately we will come home to two puppies who missed us very much!!!! LOL

Congratulations!!!! 25 years is well worth celebrating. I'm glad you've put aside for yourseves to vacation. Your exactly right about not putting it off. We never know if there will be a tomorrow. After all these years you both deserve it. And if I were you, I would make a point to treat yourselves to something even if it's not as big as a vacation more often if you could. If you work hard all your life you might as well find some enjoyment in it. Otherwise what was the sense of working all those years.
