It's a good story, it's engrossing and well-written for its intended audience. It's meant for kids (at least initially), but the language isn't "dumbed down" which I think is one thing that appealed to kids, to be honest. The story is capable of sucking you in and making you believe in a whole different world.

I dont really know, but I do know that I am 55 years old and just love Harry Potter. I am into magic and the craft, so maybe that has something to do with it, but Harry is so darned cute, and so are the movies.

I think yeah it is the magical world that makes harry potter so phenomenal. Sometimes the real world can be kind of tiring and harsh. Maybe we want a momentary escape of some sort to a magical land where witches and warlocks exists and all you have to do to repair broken nose or eyeglasses is to utter incantations. And JK Rowling really is one heck of a writer. She does a great job in keeping readers hanging on to her every word.

i think it mainly due to the good story and good promotion done by the publisher. and also, im amazed at the words jk used in writing harry potter books. most of it are written in simple words. even a kid can understand them. there no complicated word that hinder my understanding.

i think for me it is because of the magical world where he thinks he belongs to and the people like hermoine and ron whom is always there for him no matter what and also because of main cast who roles teh life of harry potter which is daniel radcliffe.

I don't know I just recently started reading the series and just finished the second book. I like it too, but I think how it is kind of wierd how Harry makes wild assumptions about the mystery and they all just happen to be true, besides that, it is a really good book. I have yet to see the movie.
