Fruit off a tree!

I have two plum trees and one apple tree. Last year we didn't get to enjoy any of the fruit. Part of the reason was our landlord did'nt spray for bugs, insects etc. Today a couple days ago I tryed out my first plum, mind you they still have some time before they are considered full grown. The one I tryed was very tasty though. So, today I picked a tender one of a branch, it was good TO THE FIRST BITE! Than, OHHH my--- I just about swallowed a MAGGET!!! yuck!! JUST HINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME SICK! Can any one out there relate to this story?
