It was shortage of money when I wanted to get an apartment of my own in the early nineties. It was so difficult to get enough money for it. It was then very cheap to get an apartment then, but as I didn't have money at all. I had to give it up. To be in the state of poverty made me change my life and I drew a conclusion that I am the only master of my own fate in order to live a better life for a quality life. I am happy that I have overcome the poverty that I had. Life is yours to explore.

What a beautiful thought provoking question. Living in America, poverty is what you make of it. I have never done without as far as needs go. I always had a home, enough food to sustain me, and clothing although by the standards set by this country, my family was below the poverty level. I did not have what I wanted due to the cost of pleasurable things. I was taught the basic values and the value of giving and have lived my life that way. My quality in which I am poor with is the art of receiving. I give as much as I can, but when someone gives to me I don't know how to respond most times and I simply fall silent. When my husband was in the hospital and my church came to me offering help with anything I needed while he was ill, I told them that I knew there were others who needed the help more than me. My pastor pointed out that a blessing was being offered for what I had done for others and I was to accept it gracefully as it helped the others feel good that they could finally give back some to me. What a hard lesson to learn and accept. Thank you for this question, you bring back thoughts of hard yet warm times in my life.

With the wonderful, honest, meaningful response you have made my day. What a compliment you gave, I am now charged to do even greater. I was wondering why I did not see any new discussion topic and why I was not getting responses? Were you on french leave? Dutch Leave? Thanks once again.

That is something great to hear. Most human beings including those economically forward, have some poverty or the other as said above. Thanks for your response.

I never face poverty in my life. For me poverty means dependency. Poverty is like accepting your own ability. When this feeling grow in your mind, you start neglecting yourselve and thereby god's immense power, which is given to all of us.
Yes, I am facing the economic problem. But, I don't feel poverty at all. I know I am enriched with the solutions of this problem.
I believe god sent us all to play here in different situation and problems. And I am having great time to play with them.
