Only 15 to 20 percent of soldiers in WWII combat would fire at the enemy

During World War II, U.S. Army Brigadier General S.L.A. Marshall asked average soldiers how they conducted themselves in battle and the vast majority of people said that they were overwhelmingly reluctant to take a human life. I think 80 percent realised that victory through the loss of your compassion and humanity meant no victory at all. Would you be able to kill the enemy in war?
