why do doctors write Rx on their paper when they give medicine to a patient?

Rx is short for "prescription." It's just a medical term that is shortened for the convenience of those in the profession.

Upto my knowledge it denotes that I refer to the patient the following medicines or tests. Smply telling 'refer to '
