I am s student in Anhui College of TCM where many students from different countries study TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine). When I ask them about TCM they say it's mysterious , profound and believed to be effective to some incurable diseases. Here I want to ask my foreign friends here: 1 Have you heard of TCM? 2 How do you and people around you think of TCM? 3 Have you tried TCM? If you fall ill next time, will you go to a TCM clinic? Thank you!

I did try having been diagnosed by I believe is a Traditional Chinese Doctor. He just got my pulse and checked my tongue and all of a sudden he told me that I have a weak Liver and Kidney. I was amazed by the diagnosis since I was really diagnosed to have a higher Liver oils in my blood tests done several months ago. I was just surprised about my kidney as conventional blood test done and urinalysis did not show that I am having problems with my kidney. He prescribed these chinese meds that I could not even read what it was I was just instructed how I will take these medicines and told me to avoid certain kinds of food.

Hello Smiling LuLu, I am a little familiar w/ Chinese Medicine. That's what I've heard it called here in the US. We are now starting to call it Alternative Medicine. More specifically it can also be called Eastern Medicine. This is completely my opinion here... I think TCM has a lot of merit. I believe the Chinese people have been able to exist for millenia solely because they are very attentive people. They have documented years and years of history. With this, it's easy to determine, if we try this we get that, if we try THIS we get THAT, and so on. Does that make sense. Look at cultures who do not document in some way their history, they are not as 'advanced' if I can use that term. Personally I have not tried TCM. I have been interested in trying accupuncture for some time now and will one day experience it

I'm so glad that you are interested in acupuncture which is an important part of TCM. You are right, the treatment of TCM played a big role in Chinese 5000plus year history and helped them conquer many diseases.

I have heard of its use from a friend whose brother had a leg injury that was not getting better with the treatment prescribed by medical doctors. Then he went to someone who does acupuncture etc and was giving strict instructions as to his diet and with the combination of diet and the acupuncture he has regained full use of the limb when he had trouble walking before.

I had the similar experience as your friend's brother! I had a lipoma on beside my right eye some years ago. When I went to a western medical doctor, he told me that the lipoma had to be cut off and it would leave a scar. Of course I couldn't bear the fact that I would have a scar in my face. Then I went to try TCM and the lipoma disappeared in 2 weeks after the doctor applied some herbs on it

Hi smilinglulu! I heard about Traditional Chinese Medicine and know that a lot of my friends have been treated such. According to them, it is effective. I believed it so and if ever I will be afflicted with any illness, I would rather be treated in the traditional chinese medicine because I really don't like the medications being chemically produced nowadays. Have a nice day and take care!

Hi, faith210! I am so happy to see that TCM has helped so many people across the world to regain health. I couldn't tell which is better between western medicine and TCM, but it's good for humanbeings to make different choices of medical treatments coexistent and develop together in this world!
