Maybe proud is the wrong word for me to use. I am humbled by the fact that Christ should die to pay the penalty for MY sins. I am humbled to think that God loved me so much that He would do as He did for me, and want me as His adopted child. I acknowledge that I had nothing to do with this: that no effort on my part could have achieved what Christ willingly did for me. I most certainly feel most privileged.
I am not ashamed of being a Christian, or of telling people of my faith, and since shame is the opposite of pride, I suppose in that sense I can say I am proud of being a child of the King of kings.
