I'm already married and most of the time we do our own thing - he works nights. Besides, often I will have spasketti for breakfast and cereal for dinner. When we do share meals - he cooks...
I think its whoever likes to cook and does well at it. He has been with and contracting to the military since he was very young and is considering his next career step. He's currently in Space Studies @ Emory Riddle, which is a good way to go as the space center isn't very far and we could very easily move there. However, he also has an interest in cooking school. With such an interest in cooking, why would I take this from him?
I also think, if schedules allow, its a great thing to do together. You can have fun, be silly, talk about your day. And cooking, especially baking, is very tactile so it can be a sensual thing. If one person is better, they can either tutor the other - or have a sous chef; someone to chop vegetables and such.
Great topic, and love your encouragement not to just give one or two line answers, many just answer in a slightly enlongated yes or no fashion - women should cook, its the way its supposed to be, or, whoever wants to do it.

i think we'd enjoy if we work together.. you see, if im getting married, i wanted us to be intimately close enough to enjoy doing things together, i love to cook and i know, it won't turn out like that always, so yeah, i agree with lecanis!, taking turns!.. but i wouldn't want a maid, really.. c:
and oh! a guy that can cook is great! heheheh..c:

I love cooking myself,I love entertaining my friends,my hubby does a bit but I prefer when I cook , that look of excitement on his face when he tastes something new , or enjoys a dish he's been missing , that look is priceless for me .When we had the kids , it even got better because now we enjoy picking produce together and planning meals , so it's a lot of fun.
Men are very good cooks don't get me wrong , my two uncles are restaurant chefs and owners , great ones too , don't forget Emeril and Mario and many other male chefs.

I have a couple of different ideas on this:
1) I think taking turns works great. =)
2) If one partner knows how to cook and the other doesn't, then obviously at least in the beginning that partner is going to do more of the cooking. Hopefully the other person can learn to cook from them, and then they can take turns after that, or each cook whatever they are best at, or work together on cooking.
I love cooking with my husband, whether we're working together on one thing or each making a different dish. When we first got together, my husband did almost all the cooking because I didn't really know how, and over time it's gotten to be more equal as I've learned. Lately I've been doing a lot more cooking than usual because I'm on a restricted diet by doctor's orders, and we've been trying to figure out ways for me to stick to the diet without having to give up everything I like.

Although I'm not getting married, my boyfriend and I are living together and we share the responsibilities.
Cleaning, cooking, general house-maintainence and we both work.
That's just how our relationship works - we don't have gender stereotypes or expectations. Whoever feels like cooking cooks, etc.
=D
