I am just curious whether you use tampon or pad during your menstration? In the Philippines, tampon is rarely used by women, most use feminine pad/napkin...For those who use tampon, does it feel better than using pads?

Here in the United States, most of the women I know use tampons. I can't use them because I have scars in that area that they irritate, so I use pads. Tampon use seems to be so widespread here that one of my coworkers picked on me when I said I used pads, until I explained why to her. I do know some women as well who use menstrual cups, which are an option a lot of people don't know about. They're supposed to be a really good option, because you don't just throw them away, and it's supposed to be more natural. However, I haven't tried them since they are inserted, and would thus cause the same problem for me that tampons do.

WOW it's nice to see someone else like me! I can't use tampons either, irritate me something fierce. I am just sensitive there and never could use them. I haven't heard about the cups though, I don't know if they would be any better for me or not. I will have to go look into those. Thanks for the tip! :oD

Yay I'm not alone after all! =p Yeah, I know a couple of brand names for the cups are mooncup and divacup or something like that. I keep being tempted to try them myself, but I'm so worried about irritating my scars. I know a couple of other people here on mylot have talked about them though, and I guess they work really well. Maybe I'll give them a shot after all when I have money to order online (I haven't seen them anywhere around where I live).

I can't use tampons either, they are bleached to make them white, and I'm allergic to them. Really not a great place to have allergies LOL. I use a menstral cup called Instead, you can buy them at walmart or Target. They are disposable unlike some of the others. They even allow you to participate in "marital type activities" during that time of the month without any kind of mess.

I use tampons. In my opinion, they're more practical and hygienic. I'm not afraid I stain my trousers. Tampons are especially comfortable during the night.

Actually in order to feel clean and secure, I use both. I have for many years. However, at some stages of my monthly, it is more comfortable to use just the pad.

Ive used tampons, and are not bad at all....you feel cleaner, and you dont have the fear that you might have a spot or something. the only thing that discourages me from using it on a regular basis is the fear of TSS. but as long as you change often like every 4hrs, that should be a problem.

Hi yammydudes! I haven't tried using tampons, but a friend offered it to me when we went swimming and I had my menstrual period. Still, I didn't use it. I don't know how to use it, so it's better to be safe and use pads instead. But of course, I didn't go swimming. Just watch them. :) I use pads. (",)

I prefer to use tampons along with a pantyliner because I can't stand sitting in it all day.

Well I use a hormonal coil so I do not get menstrual bleeding anymore! When I did I used to use tampons as they felt far cleaner and more hygienic! xxxx

In my country it's really divided. Some women use tampons, some others use pads. But I guess pads are a little more common in here. Since I'm kinda allergic of pads, I use tampons more often. Sometimes I also use some cottons pads, that are not disposable. They have just the shape of a regular pad, but they're made of cotton fabric. It's not such a mess to wash them as it seems. You just leave them for one or two days inside a bucket with plain water, and they'll be clean. That is, if you didn't let the blood get dry before you do it.

I have had to use both especially after the birth of my 14 month old...I find that the pad gives me a break from the tampon..But I use Playtex not the usual tampons I find they shape better then a tampon..after awhile it's like you aren't wearing anything...I find them more comfy...
