I've never particularly been a tea drinker..sure I might have herbal teas, like mint, but as far as regular teas, never really indulged, but after reading this article I'm beginning to think I should drink more, especially green tea, which in the past has been thought to be beneficial in losing weight. Now studies are showing up that, it has other benefits as well, as quoted from the article I read.
Quote:
..." * Improved mental alertness
* Lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels
* Reduced blood pressure
* Lower risk of colon, lung, ovarian and prostate cancer, and
* Protection again Type 2 diabetes
In 2006, a Japanese company petitioned the FDA for permission to label green tea as offering protection against heart disease. The agency denied the request, saying that the research on the subject was "supportive but not conclusive."One component of tea, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), could help prevent psoriasis, prostate cancer and colon tumors. It is now being used as an ingredient in health foods, beverages and dietary supplements...."You can read the whole article here

Mmmmm...think I'll make a nice big pitcher of iced tea...---How about you, do you like tea in general, or might now consider drinking more now that you know some of its benefits?

Hi there. Personally speaking, I was a big coffee supporter, up until two weeks ago... I read about the amazing benefits, tea has for us, and decided to make the switch... For the last two weeks, my husband and I, now drink and enjoy the awsome benefits of our chosen tea, which is "Wu Long Tea or Oolong Tea...

I'm lucky that there are a lot of oriental food stores near me, and the selection of teas is phenomenal, including Oolong

I drink a lot of tea. I don't like green tea, but I love white tea. It is said that white tea is way more beneficial than green tea and tastes better.
I like my tea with lemon and honey...

you should, once you try, you will want to drink it all the time....it has been the privilege of the rich, and the downfall of an emperor...because of its minimal processing, white tea contains more nutrients than black and green tea.

I KNEW there was a reason that I loved tea so much! I happen to love the Lipton Diet Peach Tea myself. It's really refreshing. Sometimes, if I have the right low calorie syrup for snow cones, I will brew up a bunch of tea, and make my own peach flavored tea. It tastes so much better, and I can add as much or as little as I want. YUM!

I like different teas, pyewacket, but I generally take all of these studies with a grain of salt. They will tell you one thing, only to come back a few years later to say that they have a different finding. I just try to eat right and include a lot of healthy things in my menu. I've always preferred coffee over tea, but I do like tea also.

In my country tea is the favourite drink. We all like to drink tea anytime. At breakfasts, dinners, lunchs. Whenever hungry or full. We don't need reason to drink tea. And also drinking tea helps a lot to digest after eating. And tein in tea gives energy.

Well I am a true Brit - so I guess it goes without saying! I am addicted to tea. There is nothing that wakes me up better, or makes me feel calmer in a crisis, than a nice cup of tea. I even take my own Tetley tea-bags and a small travel kettle to wherever I go in the world, because no one makes a god cup of tea like the English, - and I can't survive without it! I have a cup before I leave for work, a cup as soon as I get to the office, and several during the day, before making myself one as soon as I get home, and also one before I go to bed! I do have at least one cup of green tea each day, but normally it's good old black English Breakfast - and certainly no perfumed teas or fancy stuff like Earl Grey, which most foreigners think the English drink - we really don't, - and neither do we drink iced tea - yuck!!! A good, straightforward cup of real tea does you the world of good! In fact i think I'll go and make one now:-))

Oh no - that would be a waste of a good cup of tea!!! Actually my Grandmother used to swear by brandy with lemon and honey for sick people too - we just left out the tea!!!

Well now I learned something..yes, most think of Earl Grey as the British tea..and I guess Iced Tea is an American invention. When you're sick do you ever have a cuppa with lemon and honey and a shot of brandy--that was my great-grandmother's cure all when we were sick..LOL

I drink tea like water, it calms me down and makes me feel more at ease going through boring routine or stressful deadlines. I don't even know tea has so many benefits like above. The part about blood pressure though is not as good for me, I already have low blood pressure.

Really? Tea calms you? With me it's the opposite if I drink too much cause of the caffeine

Tea is at an all time popularity, now. Especially green tea. I wonder how much of it is marketing. I've been drinking tea for most of my life. Iced tea in the summer was a must when I was growing up. I drink mostly hot tea now--even in summer. I love different flavors of tea, but I don't get along with most herbal teas--don't know why. I just get an upset stomach when I drink them. My favorite right now is Bigelow's Green Tea with Jasmine! Love the stuff.

I drink one cup of tea a day because it does have beneficial effects. I usually drink green tea because i like that the best, I am not into flavored coffees or teas so the plain stuff is what I use. I usually drink a very large green tea after supper.

You know, I am an iced tea drinker...everytime I eat out, my best beverage is iced tea. Two or three weeks ago, I had high blood pressure, so my doctor had me take some lab tests--and to my dismay...it yielded that my triglyceride is more than double the normal level, and my cholesterol level more than the prescribed normal level...of course, I don't attribute it to my favorite iced tea, but I am told by the doctor to stop taking it because it contains twice more sugar than soda...so today, I never drink iced tea anymore...and I am on diet now, with only diet soda, non-fat milk and kalamansi juice and water as my beverage...I don't know if it can really lower triglyceride and cholesterol level because in my case, it hasn't....or maybe it's my lifestyle, that's why it has no effect on me...I'm not really sure.

Well the pre-mixed ice teas do have a lot of sugar, but if you make your own, you either just need a little sugar or none at all--I've gotten so used to drinking coffee and tea without sugar that it doesn't bother me to do without...

I tend to drink green tea in the winter in the evening. I'm more of a coffee person. In the summer I drink a lot of juice and water. I like the green tea because it is healthy. Plus I find it soothing.

Since you have shared some of its beneficial value,I would like to contribute the cons of drinking tea(Please take note that i'm not here too condemn your points:)I read the whole book last night and I'm afraid I have a bit of an addiction brewing (pun intended). So beware of getting addicted to Tea!!!1-Tea, as long as it is in its original tea leaves and NOT processed into packets (tea packets may be adultrated with tamarind seed powder.example-Lipton), it is good for health. Tea contains 30 anti-oxidants. Recommended dosage is 2 to 4 small cups a day.So do not drink excessively.
2-Tea (black, green, orange pekoe) is naturally high in oxalates. In people prone to form kidney stones, a very high oxalate diet can promote the formation of stones. So, folks prone to kidney stones may not want to overdo tea.
3-Green tea can cause the thyroid to slow down. Remember even benefical nutrients can be taken in excess.
For myself, I have found that fluoride triggers severe flares of pain & muscle weakness.. A cup of green or black tea will put me into several days of agony. For those in good health, I say enjoy your tea. Consider moderation!!else you might addicted to Tea.

Well I just learned something here. I drink green tea a lot, and I mean a lot to, but didn't realize that it could be beneficial towards psoriasis suffers as well. Gee I was actually doing something right for myself and didn't even know it..lol I've heard of green tea being beneficial in some ways before, but I just really love the taste of green tea, so much milder than regular tea.

I DON'T LIKE THE TASTE OF TEA, so I don't drink it at all. I know it is good for health especially for those high blood people, but I can't still drink it . My dad likes drinking tea very much, although in those hot days. He likes the taste of tea very much.
