I had this friend in high school that would always talk to me about how fat she was. I used to say to her no your not blah blah blah and then she didn't do anything about it.
After about 4 months of listening to her, i just stopped.
How do you know to stop listening to stupid things?

Well, if it's her thinking that she has a problem and she's legitimately concerned... It might just be noise to you, but to her she could have been actually concerned about her weight. If she was 'super-crazy-tiny-my god I can see your intestines' thin, then that probably wasn't the case unless she had some sort of eating disorder, though.
I'm not really sure how I stop listening to stupid things, unless I just stop talking to the person altogether. (When all other means have been tried, of course. I like to give people the opportunity to stop being obnoxious before I shut them out. :P)

I wonder if she was trying to get your reassurance because she really felt that she was fat, or if she was fishing for compliments. In either case, telling her that you didn't want to hear it anymore is probably about the only way to handle it. Otherwise you would probably have to listen to it go on forever.

Hi Niks..
The best way to stop listening to all the blah blah blah is to fill your ears with cotton plugs. It helps...
