Would you lend money to your neighbor?

How about if you're the new neighbor or someone new just moved in next to you? Would you do it? $5.00? If not, how would you go about saying no? The situation: Twin home and your neighbors are an unmarried couple. One with MS who lives off of Social Security who pays for everything, including her man's alcohol habit. He has a job but lost his license from drunk driving and now rides his bike to work. They could be dangerous, not trust worthy and you're afraid. Even if this wasn't the situation, once you give a little, they always come back for more. (from my experience, anyway) Got any good lines when saying no, so you feel safe when walking away?

I agree. It's crazy. I moved a couple weeks ago and shortly after moving in, the neighbor guy asked to borrow the money. I was shocked!
