Ear Stapling for Weight Loss?

Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone done it? There is a chiropractor's office on my way home and their sign has recently had something about ear stapling for weight loss. I've done a little bit of research and I'm antsy about puncturing my skin on purpose, not to mention not wanting to spend money on something that may or may not work, but I'm very eager to lose weight and I've struggled, so the idea is fascinating to me. Has anyone done this? Has anyone heard anything about it? Please let me know what you think?

I have never heard of this. It sounds really wierd. I have heard of acupunture to stop smoking on the ear... but it didn't work for my mom. I guess if the cost is not too expensive or you medical insurance covers it (most don't) then it would be a good idea to try it out.

The stuff I read about it said that the ear is good for weight loss and quitting smoking. Thanks for your response!

Acupuncture is now recognized as "complementary medicine" and is covered by most insurances now.

That just sounds weird. If puncturing your ear makes you lose weight, then why didn't I lose weight when I got my ears pierced? There are plenty of other methods to lose weight without poking holes in yourself. Good luck, I know it's a struggle.

You made me laugh! I have pierced ears too and that certainly didn't do it for me. I think that it's a certain pressure point higher on the ear. I don't know if I'll have the nerve to do it but I'm certainly considering it. Thank you for responding!

This sounds to me like it is a sort of acpuncture where they put the "needle" into the pressure points. It is often used to help people quit smoking although I have never heard of it for weight loss. Me not having heard of it means nothing though, so do not take that as it not working. I understand that the needles aren't necessarily where you would have your ears pierced for wearing earrings. If it isn't too expensive, what have you got to lose by trying it. If you do try it, make sure that you let us know whether or not it does work tentwo67. Good luck. :)

If it works then it wouldn't have been too expensive at all! It's at a price point that really has me thinking about whether or not I want to do it. My husband and I have talked a lot about it and I think when we can spare the $$ I probably will do it, and I will certainly let y'all know what happens! Thanks for responding!

Bike Made of Food
Stapling your Ear to loose weight? I have never heard of it, but I never knew our Ears could hear food, and this would keep us from wanting to eat? LOL If this is something you really are interested in, you might want to look into it more.

Fun-ee I think my ears probably CAN hear food. I think that my whole being can sense it! :)

Yes, I have heard of ear stapling for weight loss. Ear stapling for weight loss is a form of acupuncture. (Acupressure is acupuncture without the needles). A friend of mine had her ears stapled for weight loss over 20 years ago, and it worked for her.

I heard about this not too long ago, and honestly, it didn't make much sense to me. I have cartilege piercings and I can't say I lost any weight after I got them... hmm... LOL Which is not say I don't think various forms of acupuncture and the like don't/can't/won't work, I think they do/can/will, but this one just sounds a little off to me. I would be interested to hear from someone who's tried it though. Are you planning to?

Sound like a scam to me. What does work is eating less and walking on a daily basis. Let me know what you find out.

I don't think it's a scam but it's very likely overhyped. I haven't decided if I will try it, but if I do I will report on the results. Thanks for responding!

I have never heard of it. What does your ear have to do with losing weight? I dont understand that part. Have you tried cutting out all pop (if you drink it) and working out alot?

I'm working on more traditional methods, but the stapling thing is about the accupuncture/accupressure thing of certain areas of the body influencing certain things. The thinking is that you have sensors in a certain part of your ear that reduce hunger.

I've never heard of this and I honestly don't see how ear stapling can help with weight loss. Sounds a little weird to me. After looking into it a little its a staple that gets pierced into your ear to make you have a decrease in your appetite. I couldn't read any real studies that proves it helps with weight loss though. Too bad... I need to lose weight after having a baby too.

I know that different pressure points can help with different things. I think I'm going to have to determine a price point for this to decide how much I'm willing to pay for the experiment...

I've never heard of that. It does sound a little strange and if it did work everyone with pierced ears s/b walking around like little toothpicks. Not sure that is something I would go and spend a bunch of money on.

That would be funny, wouldn't it? I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay for it or not but I'm definitely thinking about it. Thanks for responding!

I've heard of it and I assume it's just another way of getting people's money who want to lose weight without any effort. But maybe it works. I don't know. The thought of someone stapling my ear makes me cringe. And with my luck it would get infected. Good luck with that, though. I hope it works for you.

I used to work with a lady years ago that did this. She lost a lot of weight. For some reason I'm thinking that she had to wear a small piece of tape on her ear that looked like it had a little bb undre it. I haven't seen her in years so I don't know if she kept the weight off or not.
