Even if you live in a small town, there have to be at least 100 businesses. $1000 for doing practically nothing, count me in! Damn, i have just noticed that it is for US residents only, that is a shame. It seems that you get paid for taking photos of the store, including store times, acceptable payment methods, etc. Plus before you get all the money the store owner must agree to send off details of their store to Google. This is a great idea and who other than Google to make it happen! Some people are thinking of quitting their day jobs to take up this business offer!

Thank you so much for this information. I hope these busineses let you actually take pictures of their stores. WHere did you find out about this?
