Yes, I have to be honest! I am selfish in praises towards my family, children and sibling. I am from a traditional chinese family and since young, I hardly get praise from anybody. Even I come in first in school cross-country, champion in chinese language in school. Never, my parent ever praise me though I know they are happy and proud of me.
But, on the other hand, we are generous of giving praises to friends and relative or colleague.
Are you selfish in giving praises? Or give praises to different group of people?

I seek out things to praise others about. I look for things that are good, even if disciplining [as with children] I will temper it with praise, pointing out the good also.
I think one of the best things we can do in this life is to be an encourager. To show others how much we appreciate them.
