Smoking at restaurants

I am a smoker and I think that banning smoking in resteraunts all togethor is ridiculous. I do believe they should have "smoking" and "non smoking" for those who do not smoke. I live in the United States. Not a dictatorship! They are actually talking about passing a law where if you have repair people etc in your home you cannot smoke? EXCUSE ME IN MY OWN HOUSE? Whatever. The United States has gone insane.

what ever happened to the rights of smokers. It seems as if I cannot smoke anywhere. Pretty soon I will have to move to another country to smoke. If there is an ashtray on the table, you are allowed to smoke. You have the right to choose another restaurant. Please stop making me feel like a criminal. stinkypoo

Here in sweden u can not smoke in resturant cafes or bars - actually nowhere *lol* Me as a smoker do miss it sometimes, but i also do not mind going outside. The law came here in 2005, so it is still pretty new but it works well =)

I don't like smoke smell everywhere. Yes I agree that smoking should be ban in the restaurant. I live in Australia, so that is the law now. I'm very happy to enjoy my food without smoke in the restaurant now. My husband sometimes smokes (for social), I really don't like but I accept because he just smoke for social friend only.

I am new here today. I agree with you. I don't smoke. I think somking is not only bad for smokers' heathy, but also bad for others' heathy. Even if when my friends want to smoke, I will tell him "You'd better smoke outside, because it smells bad and most of us dislike it". So for our friends, for our family, for others' heathy, please give up it.

I also think it's stupid to smoke in a restaurant.. It takes the good smell of the dinner away and I don't like sitting eating with that damn smell... They are all just lazy people who think only about themselves...

I don't smoke and I hate to sit near a person who smokes. My husband is a heavy smoker, and every time he smokes I will make silly gestures and wave him away. I don't care if it hurt his feeling, actually I have the intention to do just that so that he will stop smoking altogether. But it hasn't been successful, but so far at least he respects me when he wants to smoke. Being in restaurant where it is closed with air conditioning, I think smoking is not an appropriate thing to do. It will cause discomfort to those who don't smoke, and it will bring health problems to kids. Just imagine kids going to the same restaurant and inhaling all the smoke from smokers. I personally agree to ban all smoking activities in a closed place. In fact in our country we have done this law already. Many places are prohibited to smoke such as in the university, in the theatre, in public halls and almost all closed buildings.

i smoke and i really don't mind having to go outside and smoke. in my local bar you can still smoke inside but in the "smokers booth"

recently in the UK, it has been banned in enclosed public spaces. I'm glad about this. I think it's downright rude to smoke where people are eating. it makes me lose my appetite, which isn't fair when I've paid good money to enjoy my meal.

Once you are inside in a restaurant...you don't have to smoke cause a lot of people are eating...you can go out and smoke there. Those guys are stupid...

I don't like smoking in restaurants either. We sit in the non-smoking section, but the smoke seems to drift over to us anyway. I think that the air conditioning could be arranged to take smoke away from non-smokers.
