I was just clicking onto someone's profile page to see if there were any discussions I might have missed and wanted to respond to...but does this happen to you?
You click on a person's profile page, it's nice and quiet ..then wham...I nearly jump out of my skin and fly to the ceiling because I'm suddenly blasted with music or something and not expecting it....I mean I can laugh at it..and gee, sometimes the music is really terrific..But does anyone else get startled??

I've had the bejeebers scared out of me a few times because of that. And been yelled at by my hubby when music starts blasting at 1:00 am. What's really bad is I have stereo surround sound on my computer, 5 speakers and a subwoofer.
I've posted a couple of videos of my band on my profile but you have to hit the play button for it to start. I much prefer those to automatic players.

It can be really loud. We also have it hooked up to the DVD player and when we watch movies we crank it up. It'll rattle the windows and shake your liver loose at less than 1/2 volume. Sometimes I forget to turn it down before I switch it back to the computer. So later when it's nice and quiet, hubby's asleep and I'm not, if I hit a website or a profile page with music... well lets just say there have been times I've had to make a quick trip to the bathroom ... LOL

My hubby is the long hair on the left side, he plays a 5 string bass, yes a Fender DR Heartfield, and he's our lead singer. He loves singing the blues as you can tell by the 2nd video on the page.
Our guitar player would love to have that 57 Jazzmaster! He's got one heck of guitar collection. The guitar he's playing in the video is a PRS and his baby! He plays thru a vintage Marshall amp that's pretty awesome.

Yes this happened to me a couple of times, it has waken me up for sure, but I think these people are very clever with what they do with theirprofile page, I am not that adventurous maybe I should learn how to put the band I help music on mine and get worldwide exposure...hahahah :)

Yes, I have. It isn't that it is so bad, it is because I am not expecting it.

Yes, pyewacket, I have had this happen to me a few times in the past, lol. It is totally unexpected. As you say, most of the time the music is nice, but sometimes I am already listening to music in Launchcast and it will drown out what I am listening to.

What is really funny though is if I go on say a cat type website, or watch a cat video on YouTube and the cat is meowing....my you should see my cats suddenly look up at my computer screen..they must think another real kitty is in it

I don't have that problem anymore due to my cat chewing the speaker cords.lol. But I know what you mean. When I did have speakers, I hardly ever had them on.

I'm glad I have built in speakers so I don't have that problem...otherwise my cats might have gotten ideas too of chewing wires

Thank you! I almost started a discussion on that a couple months ago. I live in an apartment, and it scares the fire out of me, and then I frantically try to turn the sound down before I make anyone mad. I'm sure I make a funny picture when I almost fly out of my seat. : )

Ah, yes..one has to turn the sound down quick when one lives in an apartment...My built in speakers tend to be loud-ish anyway, even on low

hahaha I guess my old profile used to startle people. I used to put music on auto play there, playing Whitney Houston or Aguilera's songs, it's not rap/ disco/ metal, but still their voices are strong so people might be caught off guard. yes I experienced the same too, I think new people know how to put music on the new profile, I can't put the music on auto play now

Well now theres the trick...I have my sound turned off for just that reason...lol. I don't like being startled like that, I am old and my heart may rebel at some point, so I am playing it safe...lol.

I've had that happen in various pages. Right now I tend to do one of 2 things, either keep the volume on mute, or have headphones plugged in and only put them on when I have something I want to hear. I think that experiencing the blast from a page has shown me that this is the best to do.

Yes, I have had that happen..and it makes me giggle a bit too. The extra feature adds another point of interest when you drop by...but the unexpected blast can be somewhat unnerving!lol
I am not sure how they add music...and I guess my other question are they breaking any copywrite rules by playing music without permission from the artist or producers? Just a thought. I guess if I ever decided to use a theme...I'd make sure that it was from public domain. That way no one can come back and as for royalties or whatever else they might come up with.

Yes I have had that happen to me before. I have had it happen to when opening emails before. It can shatter your world. If one is not careful they can be hurt if they are on rolling chair and roll off the edge of the world when they jump. LOL

Oh yes, both me and the cat on my lap. I forget that I have my speakers on occasionally. Of course, what I hate more is when I am listening to music on the computer and it happens; both songs are being played at the same time, and there is no way to turn off the profile version without moving away from it, or shutting the speakers off.
