It is quite true that only by just washing out mouth or gargle, germs will not die. Many good tooth paste (latest one with salt) should help get rid of germs.

A solution of salt in water has an antiseptic effect due to its strong osmotic potential. This dehydrates micro-organisms.

I too agree that taking a regular mouth wash doesnt destroy germs..It only gives a freshness to our mouth and can kill some germs which is not hidden inside the teeth and gums..
I dont take mouth wash regularly but only when i eat any spicy or non vegeratian food stuffs because mouth wash get rid off that food smell.

Well, gargling is essential to help cure some of the germs that might be lingering in one's mouth, but I feel the real issue is making sure you take time to Brush your teeth, Floss, and then Gargle with mouthwash but make sure you do a Good job of brushing your teeth as well.

I suppose if they just gargle and use a mouth wash, it will not remove all the germs. In order to remove them, we would have to use toothpaste and make sure our toothbrush is sterilized after each use. We would have to make sure that the whole bathroom is absolutely clean, and wash our hands thoroughly as well, make sure our dental floss is a one use only, that, each part for a day is sealed. So just a gargle and mouthwash will not do it. You have to brush your teeth and use toothpaste as well. Mouth wash is to get rid of bad breath.

I think it all depends on the type of mouthwash is used, it has to be something that said kills germs just not a breath freshing

i've read about this. they say mouthwash only stings your mouth and not totally clean it. i dont know if its true because i dont use mouthwash. and maybe some of my friends use mouthwash but i dont see any difference between people using a mouthwash and those that only brush. maybe mouthwash just gives a flavor into our mouth and not really kill the germs. ^__^;;

yes, i do think so, even in washing hands, we are not sure we all washed out the germs, even when we go to bath, we are not sure we are 100% clean. Germs is everywhere and we can avoid them because we can't see them in our naked eye.

Gargle with mouth wash is for throat washing and tooth brush and tooth paste is for cleaning the teeth. If dentist say that the gargle and mouth wash do not ensure to remove all of the germs, we should believe on it as they are specialist, dentist and they know better. I think medicated tooth paste works better. So we should use it for better result.

I also hold the same idea that it cannot help completely kill the germs in the mouth even if we use mouthwash every day. Still I think that it is better to use the traditional way of brushing our mouth with a normal toothbrush. I was given two bottles of mouthbrush by my doctor friend, but I don't like the flavor and it is still kept there. I prefer toothbrush only.
