Construction Work, Right Outside My Door!

So much for a quiet day off! There has been construction work going on in our town for quite a while now. They are putting in town sewer. Gradually they made their way through the town and eventually worked their way to our street. As I sat quietly sipping my morning coffee I could hear them at the other end of the street. It didn't take long before they appeared right in front of my house! So much for a quiet day.
The sound is annoying. They are drilling, digging and grinding. I can't take it! If I want quiet today I will have to leave my home to find it.

I seldom get bothered by that. I live out in the country. But they are planning to put town water in on this road soon. I will be so happy that I am getting town water that I won't mind the noise.

It is annoying isn't it. We live next to a store and share a driveway and they have been expanding. The trucks have been here every morning since the middle of May. They park in the driveway right outside my livingroom window and do their sawing and everything in the driveway. They have been good at leaving me just enough room to get out of my driveway, as we can go around the store to get out. I will be so glad when it is finally finished!!

Whenever there is anything going on, construction or what not, they announce it so we are prepared. Well it is mainly because often it also means the cable will be off, the phones will not work, and the lights might so, so be prepared. At least, we have an air conditioner and can close the windows. The most problem we have in the am is those darned birds. But we do not live on a main street so we do not hear as much heavy traffic. Well go take a walk, it will do you a world of good, especially if there is a store nearby and you can do window shopping or if there is a park nearby.

You poor thing. I awoke to hammering. There are 3 roofs being put on today. All I hear is hammering..which is alot quieter than drilling, digging, and grinding..You need to go to the spa. Have a better day.

I have reasons to enjoy looking on how it is all done. The construction of buildings, the laying of the foundations, the adding of enough cement and watching it progress are things I enjoy while watching these constructions. It gives me ideas on how to help other people in the same situation. It also will benifit you since rain will not be that bothersome when storms arise.

This frustrates me too. My husband says that I am jinxed - every apartment building I have ever moved to has had major construction a few months after I move in. And inevitably the streets around that building need repaving the next year. I've given up.

There are certain sounds you can just do without. My current neighbor is not guilty, but my former one weedeatered along the wooden privacy fence, and it seemed to take forever, and it always was when I wanted to nap. It sounded like getting something stuck in rotary equipment. Our houses are just so close on that side. Today the camel truck was coming around, doing whatever it does to the sewers, and that is obnoxious at 6:45 a.m. I would be tempted to go to the library if I was in your shoes. Provided you can get out of your own driveway.

What a nuisance for you. On the one hand, I am sure it is good to havge a town sewer. Did they give all residents advance notice of these works?
They should, so that people who would be affected by the noise can move out for the day. Either that, or loud music!

We have had notice. It was inevitable that they would be close to us. Today they hit a water main and we were without water until about 20 minutes ago. The water is running now, but is brown. I have kept it running to clear the line.

That must be very disruptive, Elusive. Maybe they will move along quicker than you expect. In this case you should do whatever you have to do, even if it means leaving the house for a time. You will never be able to get any peace with all that noise.

Wow I know the feeling! The past week we've had roofers giving us a new roof. We have a metal roof so lots of crashing and banging and shouting. Sad part is the house is only a year old and we had to et a new roof. ;( They are up there shouting in spanish and dropping lots of stuff.
Here's wishing you and I both a quieter day!

Oh I so know how you feel! Last week they put in a new sewer drain at the house next door. They dug up half of their drive way and then half of the street outside their house. Noise from morning till about 3 pm every day.
