what does the number under my name mean?

I noticed that the number under my name changes once in a while. sorry if I sound stupid but I just signed up just a few hours ago and it's already quite late here so I can't think clearly because I need some sleep. answers will greatly be appreciated..thanks.

Hello Seph8ph, Welcome to mylot. The number under your name shows how many discussions you have replied. right now it is 7 which means you have replied for 7 discussions. As you will go on increasing your replies the number will change. When you will finish 100 replies you will also see the star shining besides your name. Just go on replying the discussions and starting the discussion, the rest you will learn with time. Best of luck.
