Here is a picture I recently found of myself that was taken in 1966, I was nine years-old. I tried to reflect on my being nine. Nothing significant came to mind. I was in the 4th grade. The teacher's name doesn't come to mind. Maybe it was a bad year for me. Who knows, not me.
What memories do you have of being nine? If you have a photo, please share.

I was age nine in 1963 and you better believe that, that was a year I couldn't forget....My teacher's name at that time was Mrs. Zucker and she was an absolutely fantastic teacher...but naturally what stood out that year of my life was November 21, 1963...the day that President Kennedy was shot. There had been an announcement on the intercom telling us about his assassination, and all of us kids were dumbstruck
I couldn't figure out which photo of mine to pic...I have one slightly earlier from Halloween and about a month before my ninth birthday, but I choose my official class photo at that time...

You were a very beautiful 9 year old. I was in 4th grade at the age of nine. I wore a flowered maxi dress for my school picture. I do believe it was at this age that I would get stand up on the swings at recess and sing the Smokey the Bear song, at the top of my lungs. How embarrassing. I was 9, what can I say.

Oh you were such a pretty little girl, I haven't got many pictures of me when I was that young, we didn't have the money for taking photos I guess, but I think back when I was young and I think of a little shy maybe even scared little girl, I had this thing about losing my parents I was very scared I used to have nightmares about losing my parents, luckily I had them until they were in their eighties but all those fears I had then came back to me and I often wondered why I feared so much when I was so young...

What I remember of nine, is that I changed schools. I was shy, but I began to think of myself as a good student, that year. A teacher pleaser.I remember faking illness at first, to stay home, but getting so much more involved, I began to want to be in school. The summer I turned nine, I went to spend a week with my grandmother, and the first thing she did was take me to get my hair all cut off. I did not get it cut short again for twelve years.

You were a very pretty, blond hairied child. Who do you most look like? Your Mum or Dad?
With me, I am an exact image of my Fathers side of the family. When I was a teenager I would be walking down the street, & people would come up to me & say I am e3xactly like one of Dads sisters.I think we are a combination of the Irish, Aboriginal & English ancestors.

You were a cute kid, Elusive. I don't remember any landmarks at that age either. I do remember my teacher's name, however, because we attended a four-room school. Her name was Mrs. Willie Miller, and she was a real sweetheart. She was married to a preacher. Most of my memories of that time are just hanging around with friends and doing the kid things.

I remember age 9 pretty well. I had been playing with my neighbors and one of the older girls had me play catcher during a baseball game in her yard. She told me where to squat down to catch the ball. I was not very athletic and never really played the game before (at least not as catcher). Long story short, she ended up smashing me in the face with the bat. I was knocked out then, when I woke up, my eye was swollen shut and my nose was broken. I had to wear sunglasses for 4 months in school. Back then, we didn't go to the hospital even for that (No insurance). My mother iced it and made sure I knew where I was and all that. I guess I did...
At 9, I was skinny and gawky anyway so having a huge black eye and swollen nose and wearing sunglasses in school made everything worse. It was a bad year for me. In fact, my whole childhood was filled with bad years until I got to college at 17!
I don't recall my teacher's name at the time but I remember all too well the way the kids picked on me for wearing sunglasses. So I took them off and they were grossed out. Sheesh, I couldn't win. lol. It's funny now, not so funny then!

Hi! I think you've got a very nice picture at nine. I can tell that you must be a beautiful woman, now. I just join in a few days. Haven't know much about working with myLot. Could you tell me how did you up load your nine-year-old photo? I have got some old pictures but I have to scan them first. It's good to think of our old days sometime, makes us feel like going back to those days again. Then, it make me I realise that I can use my own experience with my kid. How to treat him and how to fix those mistakes in my old days. Sorry, if my English is difficult to read. I'll try to be clearer next time.
