How many books do you read at once?

I love to read and often I find myself reading more than one book at a time. They'll be totally different kind of books, like a how-to and a novel or something like that. I'll have one that I read at night and one that I read during the day. How many books do you read at a time?

How fun! I am the same too! Either it's a good book I don't want to finish too early or it's a little boring book like investment or something which I don't want to get killed by boredom. I would read from 2-3 books at once. Sometimes I read one during the day (mostly practical ones) and one during the night. And sometimes I would alternate two books on alternate nights and read another one during the day. I enjoy doing that because it's like I am getting different information within a shorter period of time *laughs*.

That is funny, I know what you mean it does feel like you're able to get more in and faster when reading more than one. Lately I haven't read anything but I have a pile of books waiting for me to start.

Yes me too! I think my reading rate is not catching up with my buying books rate at all! There are so many books and magazines which I have absolutely no time for for now! How sad. I canceled my gathering with my buddies today just because I need to work on the website and ebay! *laughs* Turning into a workaholic these days. I think I will save the books until my career break!

LOL, I've been like that lately too. I stopped buying magazines, which are my favorite, because I was spending all my time online trying to keep up with my GPT sites and blogs and here and then trying to research new programs. I've cancelled gathering with friends to work online before too so don't feel bad, lol.

i can read only one book at a time. Though i cn read a totally different book side by side as you do but i dont prefer to do so. I think it breaks the continuity and rythm of reading. Anyways reading book gives me an immene pleasure and most of the readers can unerstand this.

I don't read them side by side, just at different times throughout the day. I agree reading can bring great pleasure.

I go thru books like Grant went thru Richmond. I read very fast, so I usually go thru 2-3 books a day.

I read one book at a time. I love reading and I am a little intense [could be obsessive] about it. When I read a book [for the first time], I read it until I am finished with it. So I end up staying up for long periods of time when I read something as long as say Harry Potter for example. I might take a nap and then get back up and read more but usually I stay up and read the whole thing with only short breaks. That's if the book is good and captures my attention. If the book doesn't get my attention, I might set it down and walk away from it forever and probably just get rid of it.

Wow, I don't know if I could do that. My mom is like that though, she'll go through a book in a day or two.

I usually read one book at a time, but when I start reading I focus totally on the book and finish reading it in no time. It takes me one weekend to finish a book of about 800 pages. I just get so caught up in it and try and finish it as fast as possible.

Generally I read only one book at once. But it happens from time to time, that I read 2 or even 3 books at once. The cause is that one of these books is quite hard in reading, but interesting, so I read only one chapter and than read another, 'light' book:)

That makes total sense, a lighter reading book for relaxing and a deeper one for some stimulation.

Just say hello to a fellow bookworm...and I know what you mean about reading more than one book at a time....The one fiction book I'm reading is the last Harry Potter book and almost finished with it..I had started reading Eragon but put it aside awhile when I started reading HP--I'm also meandering back and forth between The Secret, The Success Principles, The Science Of Getting Rich, Think and Grow Rich, the Attractor Factor--uh, you get the idea...LOL--mainly all those "positive" goal setting books which I find rather inspirational to read.

Well I'm not a millionaire yet, but I'm working on it..LOL..a lot of things have been falling into place for me lately --like getting all my articles published over at AC...that's been a really nice boost to my confidence--my health has been a lot better, as I used to have excruciating joint pain, but now with my mantra of saying "Thank you for my healing" I can actually walk now without any pain at all--so yes, the law of attraction is working for me...Now to visualize getting a $100,000 lifestyle...Hehe

lol give it time, you'll see before long you'll be rolling around in dirty sexy money like they do on tv, lol. I could think of worse things than a $100 bill sticking to my butt, lol. I'm glad that it's working for you, maybe I should give it a try. All my life I've felt like I've had a black cloud over my head and they say my father's wife cursed me before I was even born so who know's maybe that's it? Whatever it is, I've named my black cloud Fred and I think Fred is a jerk! It would be nice to kick Fred in the a$$, lol.

The only inspirational type book I've read lately is the Dr. Phil book Life Strategies... it wasn't exactly inspirational as much as it was a "really get over it you big freakin baby" but it helped me out 100% with some really serious stuff. I want to try The Secret, I believe a lot in creating your own "magic" so to speak so I find the concept interesting, how's it working for you?

I usually have several going at once. Usually I have one novel, one non-fiction, like a biography or history book, and then some type of self-help book. I usually read the self-help book one chapter at a time, so I can digest the new information before reading and absorbing more.

That sounds like a good mix and a great way to read the self-help books.

I like to read novels so I can hardly get chances to read more than one books at a time.

Lol, I sometimes read 2 books too. Depending if the book is bored and not interesting I would get another one and start reading it and when it gets bored on the one i was reading I get the other one, and so on. Sleeping late reading? I wake up at 12-1PM because I spend like 5-6 hours reading:) at night.
