muslims are allowed to eat meat but only if it is halal i.e. the animal is slaughtered in the rite way and by reciting the name of Allah (God). we only eat halal meat and pork is forbidden. if the barbequed meat was not halal, then indeed that person did a wrong thing but yet we cannot classify him as 'not being a real muslim'. this is not for us to make such comments and God forbids that because God is the final authority and He alone knows who is a real muslim and who is not.

It is not correct that Muslims don't eat meat. Strict Muslims only eat halal meat, that is meat of cows, goats, sheep and chicken. But the animal has to be slaughtered in a certain way, the same as the Jewish kosher meat. If there is no halal meat Muslims can eat kosher meat but never pork. I don't know if certain branches of Islam don't eat any meat at all but any Muslim I know eats meat as long as it is halal or kosher meat.
