Don’t help me, I know everything!

Has anyone else noticed the new guys that come on here posting things that fit right in the “Don’ts” section and when you try to tell them, they argue you are wrong? Not only that they cop an attitude about it. I am just trying to tell them what they are doing wrong before it gets deleted to help them. It certainly isn’t going to help me at all especially if/when that post gets deleted I lose my point for posting. Not all are jerks about it mind you, maybe 40% of them are. The other 60% actually says thank you.
Anyway here is my question, do you find yourself compelled to let other’s know they are breaking rules? Why?
OR
Are you one that just goes on by and let’s them find out the hard way? Why?
When you started here at Mylot did you read the guidelines or did someone help you?
I read all, rate all and thank all in advance :oD

I usually don't say anything to them. It is just myLot and they will figure it out eventually. If it is in my own discussion, though, if they are posting a referral link I will let them know they shouldn't be doing that, but otherwise I am pretty lenient. I don't care enough. I think there are enough mylotters out there who are willing to reprimand them for doing it, and even a few that might be nice about it (like you) so I say, whatever!

I have come across with most of these members, that sometimes it annoys me and make my blood boil instantly!LoL
All I do is ignore them, let them do what they weant to and maybe report them to the admin. I sometimes think these people are not really out here to post, but to mess with our ratings. They blatantly post discussions that violates the guidelines, to lure us members that are concern for that certain issue.
However, I am also greatful to those who acknowledge our tips and opinions, I salute them. To be gracious and a good listener, for me is already an accomplishment that I can be proud off!;)

I was always one that loved getting help and tips from the other mylotters that were here before me.

Yeah, mine was like a yo-yo forever, now it's stuck on a constant 88 :o(

I have seen a few newbies do this and now I just jog on. Especially the "How can I make money online" discussions. There are so many it is boring.
Mylot are very good at deleting discussions they shouldn't, but not so hot at deleting those who break the rules.
I am not going to be their eyes and ears, they make too much money from us and now they have cut our pay, they are out on their own!!!

This will make you laugh from a newbie on mummymo's discussion. Its the first response made. Do you think mylot should make us perform an intelligence test before we can become a member, this may solve the problem...DUH!!!

I will let them know one time and and lose a point because we were all new at one time but if it continues then I report them.
When I started here, or anything new, I always read the guidelines.
BTW I have not had any notifications today has anyone else had problems?

I had like four in my mail box this morning and I went through the "post my freinds started", but didn't see anything new. However you are the third person to say something about it. I so hope it's not down again. That happened once before I beleive.

When I joined I did read the guidelines. I'm good like that. I admit that there is one that I tend to break but luckily it isn't one that is costing anyone their points.
I used to warn people when they broke a rule. But then I thought about it and decided to stop because I didn't see the point since the post would end up deleted. Sometimes they are deleted before the person even logs in again so why bother.

I did actually used to do that - but usually they would just get angry and not appreciate it at all. I think I came across as a nice person trying to help, but still they would be just rude to me back.. And then there were sóme that were thankful - but not many enough to keep doing it. Now I just let them be and they can figure it out for themselves.

Ya lol! even i try to ignore such things, no use actually telling them they dont take it in a positive sense, see one thing we can advice people who thinks properly then only it works and we get postitive output for that, what can we do if they lack on thinking and for such people even if we say for example its honey , for them it looks like poison, we cant help such people, just leave it and you be peaceful lol!
Thanks,
Vani.

You know, I've seen a lot of those know-it-all newbies lately too, now that you mention it. I've gotten to where I'm less likely to bother telling people what they're doing wrong unless they specifically ask "What am I doing wrong?" or something. I only have so much time that I feel up to being on the computer, so I'd really rather not wasting it when I could be talking to my friends or discussing topics that really interest me.

LOL.... too true, sunshine! I am sometimes reminded of the old saying, never try to teach the pig to sing. You waste your time and annoy the pig!
(No, I'm not saying thses folks are pigs, it's just a relevant quotation!)
I did read the guidelines, writing takes a lot of time and concentration for me. I don't want to waste it on things that get deleted. I have also been known to quote the guidelines in these kind of discussions.
Of course, there's another saying, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them think!

I can't tell you how many times I have read a post in other forums and the poster is complaining that they were "banned" from myLot. They then lament that they cannot figure out why. I believe they know why. Almost always the very first questions other members of the forum ask is "did you post referral links" or do something on the guidelines say you cannot do. I will admit when I first started if I responded to a post that had referral links I did the same thing but it wasn't long before either my posts were deleted or I lot points. I like all my new friends too much to be banned from myLot!

Now I have once, just once, seen someone who I tried to help, but ended up called me trash, show up on here a day later asking why did their post get deleted. I so loved letting them have it to and made sure I through it in their face I told them so. LOL, that was one of the extreme ones I have come across.

I have tried to help the newer members and it doesn't help. I think they go around to my discussions and give me - on all they can...lol...I've even responded to discussions that I know will get deleted because the whole discussion will but I'm thinking that it will give the writer a hint...NOT...they always do another one exactly like the first. They need to get a clue!

The biggest annoyance for me is the "Thanks!"
Like when I comment to someone and all they reply back with is... "thanks". Personally I don't feel the need to thank anyone for replying to my post. Not that I don't appreciate it because I know technically they are helping me earn money but you're also helping yourself by commenting to me so it's pretty even on that part. I just don't think you need to thank me.
Plus it even says in the guidelines that you're not supposed to say thanks. I mean, word for word it says "Do Not: Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings. "
So that's the one I feel most compelled to say something about, but I never really do. Why? I'm not sure, I guess I just don't feel like putting in the effort in correcting people.
I've pretty much learned mylot on my own and to me I don't look at it as a way to earn money. I just look at it as something for me to do when I'm bored. So I don't reply because I want to help you earn money or to help myself earn, I reply because I liked your discussion and I have something to add to it. I just don't think it's that hard to read the rules yourself.
I do, however, report people. Like today I was responding to some discussions and I saw this person who responded with this stuff about how to earn money online. Neither discussion was about earning money. So I negative marked them and reported them.

I reckon I should just report them and go on, it would be easier. One from today not only argued with me over it but also after she got deleted has now gone on a whinefest claiming I attacked her! LOL, can't win for losing. I think I will just report them from now on and let them figure it out.
Thanks for the reply.

i agree. i am new and have had a pop at someone because of thier rudeness to a established member.
i should not off, but i abhor rudeness, especially over the internet where it is easy to be brave.
i myself clearly flaunt the rules in my discussions but do it for a difference of topics. but of course they get deleted.
i have had a pop at someone copy and pasting a link to his website but generally i only attack rude people.

Oh yeah I let the rude ones have at it, but honestly I do try to be nice when I come across someone for the first time, you know giving them credit they simply didn't know better. Just sometimes it doesn't pay cause they want to lash out at me, as if I just ruined their day or something.

I once noticed a newbie had copied a discussion. I told her on her discussion that it was a violation. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and presumed she might have been told wrong. A friend of hers responded to my reply and said, to paraphrase, Go ahead and report it if you want. We'll just join again with another screen name.

It depends on what mood I am in as to wheather I will say something or not...
But I would get frustrating if I did and they had an attitide...I would actually report them, then they can see how much they know...LOL...I sound nasty...But I am just absolutely fed up with all the cr@p that has been going on in here, its ridiclous.

I read all the guidelines.Maybe I have picked the right kind of interests because I haven't seen any rules being broken. If I had I would warn a friend but i am not sure I would tell a stranger. Because if I got a rude response, I would be livid.

Common sense is to read the rules and guidelines when you start new at any site. On this site there are many discussions and lots of encouragement from members to do exactly that. When I see someone new doing all the "Don'ts", I just walk by them. They will either sink or swim especially if they have the "I know everything" attitude. They will be hard pressed to reach 500 postings before they are reported and banned. Then all their "hard" work will be for not. Read and Learn before Posting and Losing is what they do need to learn.

Yep you got it! I am a bit softer, but after that one time, that's it, I won't help them any more. Just set back and watch those posts disappear.

Before I started writing, I read the guidelines. I signed up here because I had the intention to earn something from it. So I needed to know what I would have to do. Eventually, I realized that you don't really earn that much for each posting. But then you enjoy the reading and writing part of the activity, so I kept my account. Some people don't read the guidelines, that is really sad. So I guess, there are times we come across discussions that fit in the "Don'ts" section. I usually respond to some of those who want to know more about the guidelines. But to those who I think are deliberately breaking the rules, I just don't waste my time.

hi, i would feel compelled to tell someone if they're doing something against guidelines, i mean, isn't that what we're supposed to do? but i if the person isn't interested in learning or changing, then we're all adults here, let them find out the hard way ;) its good that people like you are concerned enough to let others know they're breaking the rules, it keeps this community safer
