Hi. I've been hooked with audio books lately. It's quite convenient while driving a car. I've finished a lot of self-help books already. But there's a different satisfaction in actually reading a book. Whatchathink?

I listened to my first audio book ever this summer on a long car ride. It was a good way to pass a boring ride, however I suspect I would have enjoyed the book more, if I'd actually read it with my eyes. I agree with the criticisms of the person above. The narrator had a very s.l.o.w. way of speaking, and a thick accent that detracted from the story. I also found myself having to rewind frequently, because of my mind wandering. I think, because reading to oneself is so much faster than reading aloud, we're less likely to get distracted. I think perhaps if I'd had a better reader, I might have enjoyed it more.

I don't care for audio books. I find that I start looking around and then my mind wanders and a few minutes later I realize that I haven't heard a word the person has said. Plus sometimes I don't like the person's voice and it annoys me. I have kind of a reverence for books as well. I like to look at them, to turn the pages, to see how much I've already read and how much there is left to read. It's just much more satisfying and a somewhat tactile experience for me to read a book.
