Do you wash...

It is that time of year when parents are buying school clothes or perhaps folks are buying clothes for work. When you buy new clothing, do you wash the clothing items before wearing them? Why or why not?

Most of the time I do, because I have found the dyes in the clothes are not set and will stain your skin and under clothes when you sweat (or is it swet?) Anyway after ruining many of bras and panties, I have learned to wash them before wearing. Also walmart will put clothes back on the rack after someone had tried them on. I have a friend that doesn't wear underwear that I know for a fact has tried on clothes there....Yuck!

ya know, if someone wants to go 'commando,' that is their business. HOwever, I wish they would be more considerate of others and at least wear undergarments when they go out to try on clothing that others may later try on or buy! YUCK!!!!

I wash first then wear. Someone that used to work in a factory that manufactured tshirts or something told me to always make sure to wash first because of the chemicals or something like that.

I tru stuff on from the front or top of the items, but buy it from the back or bottom, this way it is tried on less.

Actually it is better to wash and wear as so many would have tried that dress in the shop. But I usually wear like that only as the newness will go if we wash it. It is a pleasure to wear the new dress, which I do not want to leave.

i usually do not wash them ,cos i would like to retain the new-ness.. and sometimes, i am skeptical over the fact that when clothes are washed, they lose the shape/ dye runs/ etc... and u will feel so sad as you have lost your new wear. =s

Before I worked in retail I didn't wash my clothing first, now I try to, sometimes I dont but it really depends on how quickly I need it. Trust me though you do want to wash your clothes if you can, you just never know who has worn them, or where they have been. Back rooms in stores are not clean places.

I don't wash my clothes before wearing them first for the first time because my Mum says so. LOL. But hey, that's the real reason so it's true. She feels that once you wash it, the "new" look will be gone. So you should at least get your money worth by wearing new clothes at least once before you wash them and spoil the new look. That's her thought and since I am not really that fussy with such things, I just make her happy by wearing it first before washing. Regardless, I do not really buy that much clothes anyway.

I do wash them. Mostly to soften them up and get the stiffness out. But, sometimes I wash them because I can tell they've been tried on and who know's what that last person had on, had touched, had not washed, you know. . . . UGH!!

I tried to wash all my childrens clothes before letting them wear them. I did not know who put them on and what kind of chemical were on them. Socks and underware are the ones that really need to be washed before wearing.
